Travelling to Japan with 5/6 month old

My husband and I are planning to go to Japan in October/November, to visit my husband’s grandparents and introduce them to our baby.

We’re from England, I don’t speak any Japanese but my husband does (although limited as he hasn’t lived there since he was a child), and his grandparents don’t speak any English.

Just wondering if anyone has any general advice for travelling in Japan? We’ll be in the countryside in Ehime with his grandparents, and also spend time in Tokyo and Kyoto.

  • How is public breastfeeding regarded in Japan? Will I be expected to use a cover?

  • Any nappy brand recommendations? And where to get them? (Do places like 7/11, Lawsons etc. do them?)

  • we’ll need a carseat for when his grandparents pick us up from the airport (it’s at least a 2 hour drive) where can we ask them to go to get one for us? Any particular brands that are cheap but good for his age?

Baby milestones

how to teach your baby both English and Japanese?

Hi mamas! I’m half Japanese and lived in Japan for 19 years, now living in Florida. I have a 2 month old and I want her to be bilingual in Japanese and English. Will speaking both language to her help her, or will it confuse her? just wondering how I can teach her both languages at the same time without confusing her which is Japanese and which is English.

Other

western friendly japanese boy names?

i'm choosing not to find out the sex of the baby so thinking about having a girl and boy name prepared. really struggling to find Japanese boy names that aren't too mainstream (i.e ken) but still easy for western people to pronounce (since i'm based in london). i'm hoping to get some ideas!
