Hi mamas! I’m half Japanese and lived in Japan for 19 years, now living in Florida. I have a 2 month old and I want her to be bilingual in Japanese and English. Will speaking both language to her help her, or will it confuse her? just wondering how I can teach her both languages at the same time without confusing her which is Japanese and which is English.

Hi Asami 👋🏼
I’m a first-time mom of an almost 2-year-old, and so far it looks like she’s growing naturally bilingual. I speak to her primarily in Japanese and read her a bunch of Japanese books. But the main language at home and outside has been English. I don’t know what you think about screen time but I started letting my baby watch Japanese kids programs when she was about 14 months old, and it’s definitely helped her not just understand but also use Japanese words to communicate ☺️ I hope this helps!

Just speak to her in Japanese. Living in America they will learn it in school. And no, you won’t confuse them.

Hi! what programs did you like most? Thank you!
