Daycare Questions

I’m getting ready to send our baby to daycare and have so many questions! I know other moms will go through the same experience and wanted a dedicated place for the answers.

Biting at daycare

How did you go about your child getting bit at daycare? This is the second time my daughter has been bit, and this time, they broke skin. Apparently, the daycare can't tell me who done it, which i think is stupid as it's my child getting hurt by another kid.

Common illness

Daycare sickness is beating us!

My 1 year old only goes to daycare for 1 day a week and he comes home sick every time!

I am worried that he is always sick and we can’t seem to beat it. I took him out for two weeks to give him a fighting chance but still is sick all the time.

What are we doing mummas to make sure our babies aren’t getting sick at daycare?

Transition for 2 year old

My son (now 17 months old) has been with me all day, everyday since birth. He’s very attached to me and still breast-fed. I’m going back to work this September, by which time he’ll be 23 months old. He will be starting at an early childhood learning center, Monday through Friday. I’m pretty anxious about it. He eventually will have to attend full time, Monday through Friday 9AM-4PM, but I have about a month of flexibility before this is required to happen. To make the transition easier for him (and frankly myself as well) I’m considering the following options:

A. Start him Monday through Friday half days (9-12) for about month before he begins full time.

B. Start him with Monday, Wednesday, Friday half days for a month before he begins full time.

C. Just start full time (Monday through Friday 9-4) straight away.

D. Any other suggestions, combinations, ideas, or advice would be immensely appreciated!

Thank you!

Daycare birthday invites

So my son will be turning 4 next month, he wants to invite a few friends from daycare, would 6 weeks be too early to send out birthday invites? Haven’t invited kids from daycare before.

Advice needed

My daughter just turned 2 in December. She’s been in daycare for 4 months. Recently, shes been showing some behavioral issues. She’s been getting into fights (pushing and yelling) with other kids. She seems anxious too. For example, I dropped the remote and she started crying with a panicked expression saying “Ut-oh mama” over and over again. She’s done similar things in other situations. When I picked her up from daycare on Monday, I overheard the teacher reprimanding another kid. He dropped blocks and the teacher said “okay, now no dancing and music for you.” On other occasions, I’ve overheard them telling kids they can’t have Cheerios if they drop any on the floor. I think this is making her anxious and I’m really concerned. I don’t want to complain because I see how they treat the kids whose moms complain. I’m questioning whether or not it was a good idea to go back to work/continue to work. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?
