Has anyone ever done an online course whilst on Maternity leave? My husband suggested (or more like urged me) that I do one to get a different or better job in the future like work as a Teaching Assistant or similar.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to share my experience and ask other mums about theirs.

I’ve decided to have my baby at King’s College Hospital, and I honestly don’t mind travelling all the way there for my appointments if it means I feel safer and more supported.

Part of the reason for this decision is a really difficult experience I previously had at Newham Hospital when I was having a miscarriage. I was told that there was no scan available because it was first come, first served, which was extremely distressing at the time. Because I couldn’t get a scan there, I ended up having to go to a private clinic and pay for one myself just to understand what was happening.

That experience stayed with me and made me quite anxious about receiving maternity care there.

Because of that, I’ve chosen to go with King’s College Hospital instead, even though it’s much further for me.

I wanted to ask other mums: if you gave birth at Newham Hospital, how was your experience with the maternity team and overall care? Did you feel safe and supported? And did anyone choose a different hospital even though Newham was closer to them?

I’d really appreciate hearing honest experiences. I’m just trying to make the best and safest decision for me and my baby. Thank you.
