New in Norway

Hey! We just recently moved to Norway and I just found out I’m pregnant. Can anyone guide me on what I’m supposed to do first? Do I need to go to a gynaecologist and they referred me to the hospital for the check up appointments or straight to hospital and register there? Takk xx

Breastfeeding

Mother in law problems

I made an appointment with a lactation specialist to figure out how to bring my milk supply up and get my baby to latch only to be lectured that the lactation specialist won’t be able to help me by my mother in law…. When that’s what they do help you get your milk supply up and get baby relatching from the breast again…. I’m so beyond frustrated… I was made to feel like my decision to see a professional so I don’t loose my milk all together was a wrong decision… Scientifically breast milk is best. So I want my baby to have my Breast milk. But baby decided a few weeks ago to stop latching and only want a bottle… so I’ve been formula supplementing but today I called a professional for their opinion they said do you want to stop trying to breast feeding and just do pumping and formula or continue feeding and I said I really want to try have my baby breastfeeding and they told me is very important to come in tomorrow 12 noon and bring my baby in hungry so I can breast feed and they can help pinpoint the exact problem and figure out exactly why my milk supply dropped and fix it so it will increase again. Then mother in law went on for over 30 minutes saying they can’t help me and won’t be of help and it’s pointless to go…. When I tried explaining their job they just went on about how in the 80s they had no help, had to figure it out on their own so I should figure it out on my own with no help and that they lost all their milk when baby was 2 month. I tried explaining it’s not normal to loose all your milk by 2 months because the baby doctor and midwife told me it’s not normal and to go see the lactation specialist and they got upset by that and told me again they can’t be of help and I need to figure it out on my own like they did I tried talking to my husband about but after listening to me argue with his mom about seeing the lactation specialist he’s drained of the topic and doesn’t want to hear it he justwant to relax. Which I understand but it really upset me and made me doubt that I’m making the right decision… he doesn’t seem to care much about how upset I am and normally when I say his mom upsets me he gives her shit for it and defends me.. I feel like no one understands.. plus his mom always goes on about when she raised him alone no doctor s or parenting books and tells me I need to stop reading parenting books nd realing on doctors for help all the time when I don’t know something and learn to think for myself and do it alone like she did…. what would you do in my situation? also am i making the right decision by seeing the lactation specialist??? ps before you say STOP telling her stuff.. I don’t tell her anything my husband keeps doing it he told her about the appointment tomorrow

New in Norway

Hi everyone, I have recently moved to Stavanger after years of living in Dublin, Ireland. I have a 7 month old baby girl and would like to meet other moms (or moms to be) for chats. Let me know if you're for a coffee or a walk. I'm based in Stavanger but I do drive so surrounding areas are okay too 😊
