Ever since we launched Peanut back in 2017, we’ve been passionate about shining a light on the experiences that unite us throughout all stages of motherhood.
With US Mother’s Day just around the corner, we’ve created three Peanut prints that highlight the realities of fertility, pregnancy and motherhood.
Today, we’re excited to share our second print: Pregnancy.

Yes! Just missing Congestion, Gestational Diabetes, random skin tags, and subchorionic hematoma 😰🥲
It’s been a ride

It’s cute but for me its missing most of the weird things and the things that actually no one talks about? For me the weird stuff/unspoken stuff was bloat, bum pain, lightening crotch, carpal tunnel, itchy belly, insomnia, weird dreams, skin color changes, wondering if it’s your waters breaking or you’ve peed yourself, crazy sex drive changes, musics plugs, changes to nipples, feeling the baby get hiccups, nosebleeds, going up shoe sizes, second pregnancy not being anything like your first, accidentally knocking everything over with your bump when you forget your a totally different shape/size now etc. I knew the stuff in the picture but no one talks about how many other symptoms there can be - there’s SO many crazy extras that can be thrown in there when you’re pregnant!

I didn't believe when my partner told me that giving birth it's like having a big shit, till I was in labour 😂
Ps. I also was worried that I'm going to poop during giving birth, but luckily it didn't happen 🤷

Omg this is amazing! Thank god for blessing me to carry a child and make me a momma 🙏🏻💗

Thank you for adding the "added complexities for African American mothers" . I appreciate seeing that

Baby brain :/ 😂

Pelvis pain from the joints relaxing😅 thats probably been my worst symptom yet

I had such bad abdominal pains!!! They said that it was normal, especially during breast feeding. And the more kids you have the worst it is.

My pelvis and thumbs started locking out because of the relaxin hormone ! I got more hairy which I didn’t think could happen and my nose was massive from swelling. I now need to get steroid injections in my wrists from DQ. Also.... baby kicks are NOT cute. They are painful!!!

I didn't know you smell like a dump truck for like two weeks after pushing the sucker out

I didn’t know waking up every few hours was going to be as annoying as it is.. I love my son with everything in me so it has to be done.. 🥰🥰

How uncomfortable it is to sleep

Oh also peeing every min until giving birth

How sad and alone you feel without the baby in your womb.. or how bad gas is pp.
The amount of discharge thats considered normal during pregnancy.

Bathing twice a day and still smelling like an onion. Constipation. Leaking nipples. Thrush. Filling the bath to the top and the water still only covering my legs once I’m in, I could go on...

Vomiting 🤮 everyday

I’ve had 2 babies previously, currently pregnant with my 3rd and final baby.
This pregnancy has been very very hard. Awful morning sickness and migraines to start, now in my 3rd trimester and I have insomnia very badly, I literally can’t sleep past 2am every night, needing to pee every minute doesn’t help!
I have itchy irritated skin and a rash all over my boobs and belly. Twitching restless legs when I try to relax, killer heartburn, the list could go on... 🙈
Thankfully the majority of pregnancy symptoms die off and go once baby is here. But going through it is tough. Im just exhausted. 😴

That your feet can grow, not just swell but actually grow. 2 kids later and I'm a whole shoe size up. Something to do with that bloody relaxin hormone and your bones spreading. Also that your abdominal muscles can seperate and may never go back. And your belly button may turn black and take a year or so to look like you aren't some gross slob who never washes 😫 don't even get me started on the hair loss and irriversable pelvis widening

I’ll take a look, thank you!

2nd trimester dizziness, pregnancy rash, elevated heart rate only during pregnancy, fainting, chronic fatigue, plus every thing above-mentioned

I really have no complaints. I had a lovely pregnancy from month 1. Felt a little nauseas but no vomiting. Im 37 weeks pregnant now and still comfortable being pregnant. The only thing for me thats uncomfortable is not being able to sleep on my side. Peeing alot and a good appetite.

So true! But also vivid dreams that keep you up in the middle of the night and more cold and flus

The carpel tunnel!!! My worst symptom!

Restless legs 😣

No one tells you how much pregnancy sucks and how lazy and hungry you’ll get! Plus I never knew you could get depression during pregnancy and mastitis 😬

Osssos

For the 2nd pregnancy-How much pain your lower body is in all the time towards the end. Can hardly walk

Sciatica is god awful. Baby is resting on the nerve in my leg and sets it off.
Nosebleeds also!!

That you bleed a little after 6 weeks.

Hemorrhoids..

I got sciatic pain due to pregnancy and wow this has been by far the worst pain of my life.

SPD! It was so bad with my 2nd pregnancy, I couldn't roll in bed without my partner's help, nor walk without feeling any pain down there.

I had the boob sweat yesterday when I went to pick up my 3 year old from nursery... For a second I thought it was the first sign of colostrum! Lol

That you will get up in the middle of every night to pee in trimester 1 and 3 (so enjoy sleeping during the second trimester)

Support support support. Evens if it’s just mental support 🙌🏻

Hip and back pain.
Extra hair every else but your head (the only hair that got thicker was my pubes)
The difference between Braxton hicks and normal contractions (they are very different)

You've gotta become the Queen of asking for help from multiple places for different needs you have!! Way too easy to put pressure on ourselves

PUPPS

Chorioamniotis

You may need to snack or eat every 2 hours, causing you to hate food 😑 and when you do eat, digestion makes you feel disgusting. Also that nothing cures nausea, not the prescribed pills, not the natural remedies not the prayers. 🤣😅🤷🏽♀️

The sharp pains from your uterus growing. It’s like a shock every time 😭

The hip pain was intense and started pretty early (27 weeks) appetite loss can be normal too. I completely lost my appetite in the third trimester and had to force myself to eat 🤢

For me it was bleeding/ fore gums

You might just love it! No one told me that ❤️

Emotional roller coaster doesn’t feel like hormones but it probably is.... maybe 🤔

Loss of appetite but you have a sensation inside of you that feels like it needs to eat . I felt like this in my third trimester.

Restless Leg Syndrome for me! 🙁

The Insomnia ! 😡

The king sized mattress you have to wear around for weeks after giving birth 🙄🤣

Nobody told me that you can get varicose veins in other places than your legs! Vulvar varicose veins and very painful vulvar swelling.. ice packs help! Also… palpitations during orgasm/sex is apparently common due to your heart having estrogen receptors on it? Who knew!
