Birth cert and passport problems

Is anyone experiencing problems at every turn with their baby’s birth certificate and passport? I requested a certificate way back in April (after not being told that the certificate is separate to the birth registration!) which was delayed because of Covid and then again because of the cyber attack. The certificate office is now fully out of action abs not taking any phone calls or responding to emails. I’ve had to re apply to GRO for the cert but they won’t respond to anything at all so far. Passport office equally as impossible to talk to, I can’t access my current application and I’m just at breaking point!! Has anyone been equally let down by all these people?

Hi Anna! I'm so sorry to hear that! I was lucky enough to have applied for it when my baby was born, but I know lots of people are experiencing the delays here! I am on the same boat for passport though! Waiting since April...

Hi! We waited for ours a few weeks in April and then called them & got it in one week. So all in all it took about 2.5 months to get the paper birth certificate at home, we registered our baby 2 days after he was born and ordered the birth certificates immediately his registration was done. This was before the cyber attack though. Good luck!

Same here! Had to use a private company and pay €40 to get a birth cert. Just waiting for it now. But it's totally ridiculous.

It’s mentally draining! Like we have time to keep emailing and calling. Can I ask what company you used? And how long is that supposed to take?
