Mussels safe to eat?

I went to seaside yesteday and bought a small tub of mussels to eat from the fish monger.
I looked it up and mussels are OK to eat in pregnancy if cooked so thought nothing of it.
Now im paranoid and wondering if the mussels will have actually been cooked?
I haven't been ill and baby is still moving around

I think you'll be fine... you'll know if you get food poisoning within the first 12 hours

I was told to avoid them by several people and my midwife due to the risk of parasites but I think that’s in the case where they aren’t cooked correctly so as long as they were cooked right you should be fine! But like above you’d know within 24 hours if you had food poisoning!

Unless you have Food poisoning symptoms then your fine.

Were the mussels in the shell? If so, provided the shells were open, I’d assume they’re probably cooked. I’m not sure how easy it would be for the mussel meat to be harvested from a mussel that hasn’t been cooked as the shells are usually tightly shut! I also think you know texture wise as I imagine they’d be quite jelly like (think oysters) rather than the firmer texture you get when they’ve been steamed etc.
As others have said though, provided you’ve not been sick then it’s unlikely you need to worry 😊 (I’m the same as you btw, I worry about everything!) NHS website doesn’t mention anything nasty that can be passed to baby, and I’m pretty sure (though won’t be nice for you) your baby won’t suffer with food poisoning (if that makes sense!) x

You’ll be fine to eat them so long as they have been cooked ☺️
