Hi 👋 I’m in the exact same position as you lovely. I have a little boy who turned 2 in may and he says the main words mamma dadda help me and hi and so on but he also babbles and holds a full conversation in his own language. We are currently putting him into nursery and they explained that they have experienced a lot of children around this age have fallen behind due to Covid and they just need that extra push. I consulted with my health visitor and he is now on a waiting list for speech and language. Nothing wrong with it at all just needs a step up to where he should be. I hope this helps you too x

Mine isn't taking either. Lots of baby babble. Mine isn't in nursery either. health visitor said it wasn't anything to worry about until 2.5 years. They advised to speak slower, with fewer words and pronounce your words more. Hope that puts your mind at ease.

Hi, my son cillian never spoke until he was nearly four everyone was telling me theres something wrong with him but when he did start talking his speech was great and he was flying..your not doing anything wrong these things are more common tjan you think..

Some kids just decide to start speak later, but it’s always great to see a speech therapist - if only to feel less anxious! Here in London there’s Chatterpillars you could look into. Your HV/ GP would know where to go. Remember, not all kids are the same and the lockdown has affected them in different ways. Also if you speak more than one language for example it will also take longer ( my daughter is trilingual and will obv master everything a bit later!). Try and read, draw, listen to music. I really helps x
