Hi all, I’m 27 weeks pregnant, and this may seem silly but does anyone have any advice on how to prepare their pets (cats in particular) for the arrival of the baby? My cat is practically my baby already (love him so much haha!) and he’s very inquisitive- been interested in all the goings on in the nursery etc, but I’m really worried about the changes as they’re so sensitive to change. Any advice would be great! X

I think he will be fine. He will enjoy sleeping in baby furniture tho 😅 my one sleep in baby bed, pram, everywhere 😅

I’m the same with mine 😫 at the start of November im going to start keeping them downstairs at night, im not looking forward to it 😭 but think it’s probably best to start making small changes before baby arrives x

Oh my goodness this has made my heart happy! I’m so pleased she seems to have come out of her shell a bit since the baby’s arrived 🙊

We’ve got 2 cats and I’m sure one was there during the (home) birth 🙈. Your cats will seem huge at first 😂.

I've already started shutting the nursery door to make it clear it's a cat free zone!

I work at a rescue and we get questions like this all the time - cats are generally very resilient but just to be sure I would buy a plug-in (we recommend pet remedy over Feliway), you can also play baby noises to get them used to it, one of my cats is super sensitive to new sounds, if possible as well, when you’ve had baby, get someone to nip home with a blanket that baby has been in so they can have a sniff before you get home.
Some cats if distressed may start toileting in strange places so just be aware of that and don’t tell them off for it, just take it as a sign that your fur baby needs a bit more love and attention
