hi all!
I'm expecting a baby girl in july 2022 and recently my husband and I finally agreed on a name! Zoey was one of his top choices, he recently started watching AOT and I've been an avid fan of the anime since the first season was released while I was in college. I mentioned to him that one of the scouts commander's full name is hange zoë. he really liked hange as a middle name too so we settled for zoë hanji (I think this was her former translated name). while I'm really happy we finally agreed on a name, I sorta feel conflicted about naming my daughter after an anime character? is it because it's not a very common thing to do? lmk your thoughts!!

My oldest is Mikasa, when I started watching AOT I fell in love with the name

If you love the name, do it! Our first has a name from SAO because my guy loves that anime and chose that name before I knew I could become pregnant. And somehow our first is a girl so we didn't have to figure out another name lol I did pull from Sailor Moon for her middle name. Our first Skype conversation hit on that we both loved that anime so I had to find a name that matched. Our second is not anime based because I couldn't figure out any names that I liked during my pregnancy and had to name him right before my induction >.<

I love the name Nikko Robin. From one piece!

I named my son after Jiraiya from Naruto. We just spelt it “Jeriah” instead.

My husband always wanted to name one of our daughters Katara, but I wasn't a fan. So now I have pets named Katara, Juvea, Nami, and Anya for anime names. Any future pets we get will more than likely stem from anime characters as well. I do have a Thea (from Green Arrow, I know; not anime), but really only because it fit with the theme of our girls. We have a Sophea, Mea, and Thea. Our son is named after his late uncle, Justin. It's not that I was necessarily against naming after an anime, they just weren't my top choice. Some people may argue that the anime is a temporary part of your life (you'll grow away from it or whatever), and the child will have the name forever. But if you're like our family, anime will always be a part of your life, so it'll still hold meaning for you. So if you like the name, go for it. 🤷🏻♀️
