Obgyn / maternity hospital rec?

Hi moms! I’m 11w into my first pregnancy and would love to hear if you had a great birth experience with your Obgyn or maternity hospital in the area. We’ve had our first appointment, but didn’t love the bedside manner of the Obgyn we were assigned. We’re hoping to give birth at a hospital with a relatively low C section / intervention rate. Any insight you can provide is much appreciated!

Hi! I would totally recommend my OBGYN, Dr. Phabilia Afflack in Calabasas. She is private care but is absolutely worth it. She has been there for my husband and I from the beginning of my first trimester, to delivering our baby at Saint Johns in Santa Monica (since she has delivery rights at that hospital) till now- my postpartum visits.

We’re going with Northridge Hospital and Dr. Heidari — she’s a little intense but works really hard to make sure you’re as healthy as possible and tries to avoid c-sections as much as possible which I appreciate!

Northridge does have a lower c section rate than the national average and their maternity ward looked really nice when we did a tour.

I went to Dr Rahimian at UCLA in Westwood! I really loved my OB but the only problem is that your OB could potentially not be the one who delivers you as all the OBs rotate! I made sure I had an appt or met with each of them before I delivered. The hospital itself is state of the art.. my delivery room was absolutely beautiful and super large! I ended up needing a C-section after 96 hours of labor, but that was my body’s fault lol. I felt super safe there and knew I was in great hands so that’s the benefit of ucla! They also have a wonderful midwife program there if you qualify that I definitely would have considered if I qualified!

Dr Afflack is my OB now! How was your delivery at St John’s btw? And it was vaginal right?

Headache and thirst

After some advice before I call triage unnecessarily. I drank 3 pints of water during the night as I was so thirsty and I am still super thirsty now. I’ve got a headache which isn’t really shifting even with paracetamol. I generally just feel a bit off. I’m just under 37 weeks.

I’ve had 3 negative gestational diabetes tests this pregnancy as I had GD in my last pregnancy and baby is measuring above 97th percentile.

Vaginal or c-section? Where’s your head at?

So many friends have started asking me what I’m thinking about birthing plan and to be honest I’ve not really thought about it (probably should at some point 🫣) A number of friends didn’t have great birthing experiences and ended up with emergency c-sections which got me researching planned ones despite it never previously being something I had considered.

I’m curious to see where other mums-to-be heads are at with this one & thoughts behind it? No judgement here! 🥰
