Falling pregnant at 35+

Just wondering if any of you ladies have found it easy falling pregnant at 35.
My husband and I have been trying for several months with no luck. However we conceived our first baby the first try.
I'm also a little overweight since my first baby. This is compared to before my pregnancy when i was a healthy weight.

It took us months of trying almost daily and tracking ovulation, but less than a year…

I was pleasantly surprised by my pregnancy at age 36 😁. First baby!

6 months trying at 36 xxx

Avatar

It'll happen- several months is nothing 😅 If you haven't heard of SMEP method and Conceive Plus lube, I'd check those out to up your chances

Avatar

Had my first at 35… tried for 17 years for him… currently trying for a second at 36 almost 37

Avatar

I had my first at 37 and currently due in 3 weeks at 40. I am over weight and was told I wouldn't have kids lol don't stress about it.

Avatar

I'm having my first baby, I'm 35. We tried for about 3 months, then decided to go with the flow, if it happens, it happens. We found out in May, I'm 22 weeks Saturday. Took us maybe 11 months to conceive.

Avatar

Oh and I was probably overweight for my height. I'm 5'3" and was 140-148. I lost a few pounds weeks prior to finding out...still up and down with my weight but my pregnancy is on track and baby is doing great.

Avatar

Had my first at 33, took a year and a half to conceive baby #2 at age 37. Used an ovulation kit for a few months and that did the trick.

Avatar

My first 3 were all conceived first try. I’m 35 and have been trying actively since January 2022.

I’ve just relaxed and taken on when it happens it happens. We are currently on a much needed vacation that wouldn’t have been possible with a pregnancy. So in hindsight I’m thankful.

Avatar

I had my second at 35, a lovely homebirth to a 9lb baby 🥰

Avatar

At 33 I got pregnant after the 3 months of trying. I blame the first two months to stress though. I was tracking ovulation and was kinda crazy. Month three was like “f* this I’m not buying any more strips or tracking “ and got pregnant!

Avatar

oh yeah I should add that it took me 11 months to get pregnant with my first with my first and 2 months with my second!

Avatar

Took us a year to conceive our first at 37 and I wouldn’t be considered over weight. Almost went down the IVF route. Give it time, it can take a while and don’t stress about the weight. Overweight, underweight, normal weight…it can be a process.

Avatar

It took me a year to get preg at 34 1/2. Had her at 35

Avatar

I had my 3rd at 33 after 2 years of trying and my 4th I’m pregnant with at 35 after not trying and conceiving 9 months postpartum

Avatar

Not sure if we are allowed to recommend products on here but Ovusense is great for tracking ovulation and fertile window. More accurate than strips / period trackers as uses basal temp. All the best and whilst difficult/emotional, try not to stress. I conceived both my children when at the "f*ck it, will never happen" stage of long process (age 35 and 39)

Avatar

I got pregnant 3 days after my 35th Bday. ( It just happens that I know the exact date. Thankfully attempt no 1 was a lucky one). My baby is now nearly 3 months old and I am nearly 36 :)

Avatar

All I can say is thanks heaps for all your comments and reassurance ❤️ was not expecting so many.
I think I'll take a step back from stressing now and just enjoy the ridev😆

Avatar

My husband and I tried for 2 years starting at 35 we are now successfully pregnant at 37 after IUI. I can only say I wish we had gone to the fertility clinic sooner. Sending lots of baby dust your way! ✨

Avatar

I'm 38 and due in a couple days. I have a 3 and 5 yr old too. All babies were planned and conceived within 3 months. I used ovia fertility app to track everything. Made it simple

Avatar

I am currently pregnant with my 3rd at 37. Took 7 months. Seems being a little older can make things take a little longer x
Would say thiugh if you are worried it’s always worth speaking to drs as there’s checks they can x

Avatar

Just had my first at 34 and took us about 5 months but I think everyone is different. I also used Ovia and was tracking everything. My SIL has PCOS and it only took her a couple months and she is also 34. Keeping you in my prayers and hope you can get pregnant soon ♡ x

Avatar

Haha same! I gave up after 4 months and thought it will happen when it happens and bam! Then, I got pregnant lol

Avatar

I have and I'm overweight but healthy. I had my first at 34, second at 35 and third at 37 and none of them were planned! We knew we were okay with it happening so we had unprotected sex but never tried. So I think it really depends on your overall.health, not your age or weight. Being overweight or older doesn't mean ur unhealthy. I think when people Overstress and want it too much, it doesn't happen. So just let it happen. Don't try. Just have fun and keep an open mind. If it happens it happens.

Avatar

I got pregnant at 35 after getting my hormones balanced by a naturopath. Took 2 months of supplements then worked on the 3rd month. I’m 23 weeks along now.

Avatar

We got pregnant right away! I fell on some rocks and lost it. Wasn't trying at all and got pregnant with my forth at 36! I feel so old though! To old for this lol. An the Dr's do not help saying I need a high risk dr. Bc of my age! But it's all God's timing and his plan! So trust it! An know it will happen at the perfect time!

Avatar

Had my first at 28 and now pregnant with my second age 37

Avatar

Haven't had a high risk doctor because of my age just treated the same - midwife said more common to have babies later now

Avatar

I had mine age 35. Born on due date weighing 9Ib 8oz
Was told I couldn't have children when I was 25....at 35 had my daughter 🤷‍♀️

Avatar

I am 39 next month and 6+2 pregnant, it happened first time x

Avatar

Stress and sometimes just continuously trying too hard plays a huge part in delaying pregnancy; things tend to fall into plays when you list expect it. I'd say relax, go with the flow and let nature take its course.

Avatar

I got pregnant right away at 35 and I was about 20lbs overweight I had my daughter at 36. I plan to try for another at 37. I’m hoping it happens right away. I wouldn’t delay seeing a fertility specialist and trying to excercise and eat healthy. It can help so much with your mental health as well. I’m hoping our baby dreams come true! ♥️♥️

Avatar

You are all beautiful women, thank you for sharing your experiences and advice.

Avatar

I'm 17+2 with my 1st and I'm 38. Took about 8 months, I was tracking and stressing and it happened the one month I messed up and got my dates wrong! So agree with others who said don't put too much pressure on yourself xx

Avatar

I am 39 and have a BMI of over 35 but got pregnant on my second try!

I was off contraception for a year beforehand though.

Feel very lucky but it’s weird being called a geriatric Mum 🤪

Avatar

I'm 5w4d aged 36. First pregnancy

Avatar

Reading all your comments again and they make me so happy for you all you mamas. I know it will happen when it happens. It's just the disappointment each month when my period arrives.

Avatar

amazing 😊 congratulations. I hope everything goes well for you

Avatar

awh that's brilliant. Really hope your pregnancy goes well too. You defo don't look 30 BTW!!

Avatar

Thank you my love! I’ll be almost 40 when I have the baby! :( so I have to go for it lol x

Avatar

thank you I think I'll wait another month or two and get that checked. Glad everything worked out for you.. 😊

Avatar

I am 6 months pregnant with our first baby at 34. We tried for a few years, sad years full of upset.. Albeit I only started using ovulation strips the last couple of months! I also had a "hsg" and fell pregnant that month.
It clears tubes and also does something to uterus. Not sure what but apparently does raise the chance of falling pregnant for a couple of months thereafter.

Youl get there xxx

Avatar

Oh it’s ABSOLUTELY tough after 35… we don’t ovulate every month, so please don’t blame yourselves… I took a few tests before we got pregnant that tested positive that I was GOING to ovulate, and I didn’t. It took us some time.

Avatar

We were trying for a couple of years then I finally fell pregnant at 36. I also had a hsg to check my tubes which I think helped.
Good luck

Avatar

I'm 39, a little over weight and currently 25 weeks pregnant. Did it take time? Yes! 2 years to be exact. we had a couple of babies sent to play with the angels too sadly. I Got myself a tracker to monitor my periods and honestly thought I was going through the perimenopause only to find out I was actually pregnant. And I had actually given up trying and just said, if it happens it happens. 💙

Avatar

I was 38 when I got pregnant and I was mentally prepared to wait for months and months or even longer to get pregnant once we start trying. But it happened within 6 weeks… I would say that is normally more difficult as you get older, for a number of reasons. Maybe the stress we experience due to the expectation and disappointment of not getting pregnant each passing month, may have an impact as well… all I can say is, don’t give up the hope ❤️

Avatar

Conceived my baby at 35 first time we tried!

Avatar

I just turned 40 and I just fell pregnant after ivf x

Am I pregnant?

Hi everyone 🤗 I got a really faint line yesterday at 10 dpo and this morning I tested at 11 dpo and I can't see a line 😭 is there still a chance I could be pregnant ?🙏 and my HCG is fluctuating because it's so early? This test was from yesterday

When did you get a strong positive?

Tested last Friday got a positive faint did a digital said 1-2 weeks which would be about right 4 weeks at the time. Did another this morning still faint…. Slightly worried about it being chemical if it isn’t getting darker. Should I be using all the same type tests?

Avatar

Positive test?

Do yall see it? There’s the original and another one that I added sharpness to and stuff to see the faint liner more better. I took more and they came out negative. So I’m so confused. Also that line didn’t appear immediately I noticed it like the next day.

Can baby mamas be friends?

My son has an older brother from his biodad. Biodad has never had contact with my son. One thing lead to another though and the other child's mother and I got in contact and are planning a meeting for the boys. Biodad has no idea any of this has happened. Biodad also hasnt had contact with the other child in about 2 years. Just thoughts, opinions, anyone been through something similar?
