Wexham Hospital reviews?

Hi. I have birth at Wexham 2 months ago. At first I was sceptical, but actually had a really positive experience, all in all. The antenatal appointments weren’t always on time, but when it came to the actual birth, I felt so safe. I had a few complications and the midwifes and doctors, were completely on it straight away, they acted fast and my baby was delivered healthy and safe. The only thing that I wasn’t quite happy with, was that my husband wasn’t allowed to spend the night with me and our completely newborn baby and had to leave the hospital a few hours after I gave birth because visiting hours were over.

Thanks @Nana-Maria - qq did you have a room to yourself overnight or did you have to share? Sorry no idea how it works?

There is a few private rooms. I had one, but I think my husband paid for it, I’m not really sure as I was a bit beside myself and he sorted all. I think the standard are the shared rooms.

@Nana-Maria that’s great! Will consider private rooms- did you give birth at the birth center or labour ward/hospital?

I gave birth at the labour ward because I was high risk and I’m actually glad I did, even though I really wanted a full on hypno birth and thought the birth centre would be better for that. But I had nice lights and music etc with me and used that during the labour, but then it got complicated and that’s when I was glad I was in the labour ward because they acted so fast and moved me to the theatre straight away. Btw when you give birth you are always in a private room, it’s just the night after you’ll be in a shared room.

I don’t know where you are located, but I’m in GX and was assigned to go to Stoke Mandeville, but chose Wexham because it’s so much closer, and I’m so glad I chose the closest one, because you will go in and out quite a lot for the antenatal appointments and it’s nice that’s it’s so close when you are heavily pregnant.

I’m in GX too- our Bucks hospital is Stoke Mandeville but I chose Wexham just because of the distance. Glad to hear they have some private rooms I will speal to my midwife about booking this. Thanks so much!! And I hope you’re enjoying with the lil one and recovering well x

I had a really positive experience at Wexham (I was on the pre-natal, labour, post natal and NICU during my time there), couldn't have asked for better care. The post-natal ward I felt didn't have enough staff, but this is a national, not a local issue, and the staff who were there were incredible! Also had a few issues with appointments but when I was there for the important part it was great. I also found the travel there easy (never any traffic) and parking a breeze which made just one less thing to worry about.
