Membran sweep

So I’m 39 weeks and my next appointment is Tuesday, I was wondering if I ask my ob to do a membrane sweep would they just because I would like to try and not go past my due date and I’d rather try it than be induced . Is my doctor allowed to decline ? How did you go about mentioning this to yours? Mine has never even brought it up. I’m always in and out after cervical checks and heart rate/blood pressure.

I never did a membrane sweep but I had a very smooth and quick induction at 40+ weeks pregnant

If you aren't dilated at all its hard and kinda useless to do. So just see if you are first. Ask all the questions

I’m 1.5 cm dilated

Oh ok then yes just ask first thing

I had a sweep on Tuesday at 1.5 cm, lost my mucus plug on Thursday, and my water broke today (Friday.)
I asked to be checked for dilation and a membrane sweep if possible on Tuesday. Just ask for what you want

did it hurt? Or was it pressure? Im trying to see what I’m setting myself up for lol

The sweep didn't hurt, but it was uncomfortable and a lot of pressure

From what my OB described to me when I was pregnant with my now 1 year old 😩😩 the membrane sweep was when they go into the dilated cervix with the finger and “sweep”around in a circle 3 times (that’s why you have to be dilated also because if not they can’t get a finger in there to perform the sweep) so idk if that explains if it would hurt or not but I mean that description to me definitely didn’t sound like it would feel good at all…. But I mean we’re women and we are amazing so you got this Mama 💪
