I puréed red bell pepper without removing the skin.

My baby is 7 months and a week and I puréed a red bell pepper without removing the skin. There are still little pieces of skin in it that he probably can’t chew with his gums and will most likely just swallow. Is this okay?

I don't think there's actually any issue with eating the skin itself, it will definitely show up in their poo though, so if you see some red bits try not to panic😅X

There's no need to puree things at this age. If you look into BLW they can eat everything you are eating. Their gums are strong enough to bite through things and they learn to chew 😊 so definitely will be alright, one thing with the skin i would watch out for is so it doesn't stick to the roof of the mouth

@gabi this isn't exactly true, my baby needed pureed food for months and we were weaning from 4 months old! He just could grasp chewing and swalloing for ages, any new textures and he'd be sick/choke, waste of time and food, remember every baby is different x

@Lauren BLW is from 6 months not 4 months. Chocking and gagging are separate things too. Yes every baby is different but from 6 months they can eat everything you eat no need for making pureed food x

Update: I gave him the puree..he liked the taste when it was warm, as it cooled down he started to make a face and coughed once and gagged 3 times throughout the duration of the meal. It made me nervous not gonna lie

Gagging is normal it teaches them out to get food out if it gets stuck. Next time you can try just thin slices of the bell pepper if you want to. Look up solid starts and it can show you hit to cut it. The purity of it might be a little too spicy or a little too much for baby, so if they can control how much they eat with the slices, it might help for him not to cough or gag as much.

@gabi yes blw is for 6months+ i tried and it wasnt for my lo, every baby is different, it even says that on the solid start app. Not every baby is built for blw

@Gabrielle that's why im loving BLW, it allows them to eat until they are full not until its empty- give less but a variety than loads of same thing 😊 also why i like them bamboo divided plates. Portions are controlled and you can always give more when they want it

I'd give them the pepper just cut into strips as finger food so I'd say be fine like that
