I'm in England so may not be the same but i only had a sick not for egg collection (2 weeks) and my clinic said they didn't do notes for other parts of the ivf
Yeah this is what I was hoping for but they don't seem to be willing to give me a note for the 2 weeks of stims and egg retieval 😢
@Amy ah I didn't get a sick note for stims the sick note was for the day of egg retrieval and 2 weeks after
Is your job one you can do from home? My clinic was completely fine writing me a note to support working from home/not commuting to reduce stress
Yeah they are ok with working from home but I will also need to travel 3h per day for each appointment so it's going to be quite an adventure.
@Kate when are you starting IVF? Looking for cycle buddies too!!
I’m in Toronto and have a very stressful/busy job as well. My doc wouldn’t give me a note to even work from home but I talked to my boss and he was very accommodating of me taking things a bit easy and even passing off some work. To be honest though, I didn’t find the stims to be that disruptive on my body and I really appreciated having the distraction of work. I took the day off for my retrieval and, if it weren’t on a Friday, I might have had to work from home for a few days after because my OHSS was pretty bad but I had no issues with getting my work done. With all of that said, everyone’s experience is different!
@Madeline that's great and reassuring! Thanks!! Although sad to hear you had OHSS. Hope all is good now. I'll try to get a week off at least during the week of egg retrieval because of all the appointments and the 3h commute I think it'll be hard to manage. Wishing you the best of luck!
@Margie I’m in NJ currently doing IVF. I would speak with your regular OB to see if there are clinics they recommend! Depending on insurance you may need a referral from your OB to see a specialist that does IVF. Good luck 💕
@Margie I used to live in NYC and my recommendations would be Dr. James Grifo at NYU Fertility or any RE at Columbia University Fertility Center. Note, NYU Fertility is for-profit and a separate institution from NYU so while they share a name, you have to be careful of them pushing more expensive treatments. Columbia is academic and even have payment plan options. I personally prefer academic clinics having been to both, but NYU and Columbia are both great. Good luck! 🍀
@Amy I had my retrieval back in January and just had my FET last Tuesday. I go this Friday for my first Beta test 🤞
@Amy oh yes, commute is a whole other story. My clinic was very close to me but the appointments are VERY unpredictable so you’ll want to be ready for that. And yes it’s going well so far, currently 10.5 weeks pregnant after 1 retrieval and 2 transfers!
@Kate ohh that's exciting. Best of luck!!!! ✨💫
@Madeline awesome!! Congrats!! So motivating and inspiring 🙏🏽✨

I think it’s different for everyone but the stims were not that bad, i slept a lot. I would suggest a whole week off after the egg collection. I had to take some time off the day of and the following day, I was working from my bed the following days. I plan on taking a week off after the FET, we’re going through too much to worry about work too.
@Delcie thanks for the advice! I'll definitely consider taking off after retrieval and after the transfer! It's reassuring that most people are saying stims aren't that bad. Makes me feel hopeful! Good luck on the FET 🙏🏽🤞🏼✨
I'm not. I'm in Canada. Suggest you just google to find clinics and probably consult with a few before you pick one.
