I had this issue a little while ago! Now I direct the Calpol syringe into the side of my little boys cheek/side of his tongue, then if you lightly press in his cheeks it stops them being able to spit it out and they swallow it, he takes it really well now!
I don't know how you're administering it, but I'm assuming via the syringe provided? If your baby is bottle fed, use the teat of a bottle and syringe the amount into that. That's how I give it to my son and it works wonders. If your baby uses a dummy, you can also buy a syringe dummy. I used one with my daughter and it was great.
You can add the calpol into the milk or if he'll take it off a spoon use a spoon x
I put the measurement into the bottle teat drinks it all then
Our little boy hates Calpol and always spits it out. We switched to Nurofen the orange flavour and he much prefers it. Our dr also recommended Nurofen over Calpol because of the medicinal taste and also because ibuprofen is faster acting than paracetamol. You could try using a spoon instead if you’re in the weaning phase and baby eats well off a spoon 😊
Try putting it in a bottle teat my little girl only takes it that way x
Thanks all, these are genius 😂 I was beginning to panic he wouldn’t take any! Will give these a go x
I've started putting it on a spoon and giving it in his high chair and he loves it 😅😅
We use the bottle teat just before a feed when he's hungry! Works really well! Xx
We have to put the dose in the bottle teat and he’ll have it (thinking it’s milk!) otherwise, we get refusal and spitting it out too! X
I tried the bottle teat thing but it didn’t work, only thing that works for me is putting the medicine in the side of her mouth with a syringe then putting her dummy in straight away and tickling her throat so she swallows 😂 works every time xx
My son was doing the same after his surgery! The dietician and doctors all said it’s fine to mix it into his milk. Mix it into an ounce forst, so you can ensure they take all the calpol and then give the rest of the feed! Hope this helps and makes sense haha
