I am a twin mom and wouldn’t change it for anything, but I am only a twin mom because of infertility and taking letrozole. After three rounds I got pregnant, miscarried at 6 weeks, and then got the approval to try another round of letrozole. My husband and I decided if the last round didn’t work then we would take a break and consider other options later. Well lucky us, the last round worked and we got twins 😅 if you have never taken letrozole they say it’s about a 3% chance of twins happening and 1% for triplets or more. I wanted to see if there were any more letrozole twin moms, or even just moms who got pregnant on letrozole.
On top of the twins happening because of letrozole, twins run in my husbands family (he had no influence on if twins happen or not because it’s only the women’s genes that matter for twins), but he can pass the gene on if we have girls later on or my twin boys can pass the gene on to their possible future daughters. But we did get lucky that we have seasoned twin babysitters with his mom and aunts 😂
Using one of their fresh 48 pics so this doesn’t get lost 🥰

Awe so cute i only have one set of twins in my family and they are fraternal

These guys are fraternal 😊
We did a lot of research after finding out we were having twins and found out so many cool things. Fraternal twins can only happen to women with the gene since it’s a gene that produces multiple eggs at once, but men can pass the gene to their daughters. Or in our case the medicine making me produce multiple eggs. Identical can happen to anyone since it’s just when the egg splits.

Congratulations.
I’m a twin myself but both myself and husband had fertility struggles and have a baby boy now (clomid baby).
I’m also fraternal. My mum has fraternal twin cousins and I researched my family tree and discovered my great grandad had sisters who were twins and great great grandad was also a twin.
If we are ever lucky enough to have a daughter, she will get the genes from both sides as my husband’s great grandad was a twin (or if my son is ever lucky enough to have a daughter and pass it on).

@Karianne that's interesting. Fraternal twins can also happen as you go off birth control as you may release more than on egg as your cycles return to normal. There's no history of twins on my mom or dad's side. When my mom went off birth control, she only had one ovary (the other had been removed) and this resulted in fraternal twins for her.

I didn’t know that about birth control! When people ask if it runs in the family we have to explain that it technically does but that’s not how they happened 😂

I’m a letrozole mom! Currently 36 weeks 5 days with my letrozole baby🥰

Fraternal twins can be caused by many factors which result in hyperovulation. Genetics is one of those but also age, weight, race and diet. I didn't realise that Letrozole was used for infertility though I've only ever known it as a cancer treatment.
Congratulations on your beautiful boys. You won't really take pictures of anything else now but that's okay because nothing else is anywhere near as important. Good luck mumma. Xx

that’s an interesting stat! I am a letrozole mom too. I found this thread because I am going to up my letrozole dose, but was worried about multiples. I would actually be excited about twins but not triplets hehe. Your doctor has made it seem like 3 follicles is safe to follow through with?

if you were ok with twins yes. I think in some cases she would not go through with it. I do believe infertility and treatment is very individualized
