Teat size - combi feeding

Is anyone else combi feeding breast and bottle? I'm just realising that I need to replace the teats on our bottles but wondering if it's still OK to use size 0 or size 1 (MAM & lansinoh bottles) with an 11 week old? I don't want to give a faster flow as we've already had a hard time with breastfeeding and are still even using nipple shields.

My son is 10 weeks old and I just went up from size 0 to size 1 but then read you don’t need to if breast feeding. He’s fine with size 1 so I’m guessing we will just stick with them, at least for a while anyway. He’s most breastfed but has the occasional bottle of expressed milk.

My little one is 10 weeks and is breastfed (still getting hang of latching) and expressed via bottle (mostly expressed milk). I just moved from 0 to 1 today as she was sucking so hard on the teat she was collapsing it. I think I have a fast flow so makes sense the 0 isn’t working for her anymore. She seems more content taking her bottle now x

Oh and I use MAM bottles x

Depends on your and your baby, I had an oversupply and fast letdown so baby was absolutely not satisfied with the smaller teats, he would scream and take ages to feed after around 8 weeks, we swapped to variflow, which I thought would be too fast but he was way more satisfied and happy during feeding.

Hi I am in similar position, use nipple shields when breastfeeding. My little boy just turned 12 weeks and I’m using size 1 teats wasn’t sure whether to change or not x

I use size 2 for breast milk but I have a fast let down so I think closest to what she's used to, started on 0 then 1 then 2 because she started to become frustrated at them xx

My little girl is 9weeks old, combi feeding breast and bottle, usually we would still be using size1 teats but she has such a strong suck but was taking 30 to 45mins to finish a bottle with size 0 and size 1... So we have moved up to size 2 now and she is much happier. We are also dealing with reflux and now having to add gaviscon sachets to the bottles and we use MAM bottles and teats and love these. But the reflux is a whole other problem. Hope you get sorted for you and yours xx

Thank you all! She's been good with size 0 and 1 so far and can drink 3-4oz in about 10 minutes with them and seems happy enough so I'll stick with size 0😊

Weaning off breastfeeding- tell me your stories.

I want to hear from people who thought it was going to be impossible to wean their baby off the boob but who have now successfully done it.
How did you do it? 😂 I’m so done 13 months in. I go back to work soon and my little boy is all of a sudden just all on me. And feeding him- he just wants to pull my hair, stick his fingers up my nose, climb on me. I’m doneeeee, but feel like it’s impossible to wean him.

Breastfeeding at 4yo

So, i am not one to judge but i was put in a position where i couldn’t explain properly something to my toddler.
To put you in the picture, i take my daughter to this baby class since she was a couple weeks, now she is 4 and we are still going until she start school in September. The thing is there’s this boy in class with us who is the same age as her but who was still breastfeed in front of us. I never actually cared, it was their business, she can breastfeed him until he is 18 if she wants 🤷🏻‍♀️
But my daughter started asking questions about it, why is he still having milk like a baby, or is it normal to drink mummy’s milk and if she can have some…i didn’t know how to phrase my answer as first of all i was worried she would ask or point out he was a baby in front of them, and i also don’t want her to think it is very common to keep breastfeeding even when you are going to “big school”
How would you handled this situation? xx

“Cry it out”

The idea of letting my baby (6 months old, now) cry-it-out is keeping me up, tonight. Every doctor’s appointment, the doctors suggest that method and make me feel like I’m not doing a good enough job with my baby because he wakes up every 4-5 hours (rarely 3 hours) in the night. Really he wakes up just one time in the night, technically. Thinking about him getting red-faced, tears and snot streaming, him screaming- not understanding what’s going on, until he’s too stressed makes me sick to my stomach. But apparently I’m doing him and me an injustice by not sleep training? I just don’t know what to do.

Mom Rage

I feel horrible because I just yelled at my almost 3 year old daughter for being upset that I trimmed her hair. I’ve been struggling a lot lately with irritability, rage, and it’s just comes out mostly on my kids and husband since they’re the ones I’m around all the time. I am a full time mom, so I don’t know if the rage builds up from the duties and things that I do every day. I just feel like my irritability and rage are worsening. I just get so frustrated sometimes and end up screaming at everyone. My toddler tonight even tried to explain to me that she was upset because I cut her hair & honestly I didnt want to listen but now that everyone is sleep and the house is quiet the guilt is building. I don’t want her to have all these memories of me yelling at her but I’m sure she will… I just feel like there might be something more wrong with me than just stress, hormones…

I would appreciate any advice 😞
