How can I help my 3.5 yr old son get the concept of potty training?

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed and questioning my parenting skills, because my 3 1/2 year-old son will not sit on the potty for the life of me. he will not soil or wet his pants or sit on the potty. He will hold his pee in or hold his poop in until there is a pull up on him, which the school does during nap time, and which I do at bedtime. He won’t even wet his pants. I tried everything talking to him about it reading books, watching videos, giving bribes nothing works with the kid. the school will keep him in the same class because he’s not potty trained while all his friends have moved on to the next classrooms. Please tell me he will figure it out. What can I do to help him get it? If we try the cold turkey method, how long can we allow him to keep holding the pee without causing any health issues? PS: He will hold his pee in for as long as 9 hours. I am worried if holding it in will cause frequent UTIs.

Hi there! I found a helpful article https://www.ohcrappottytrainingmetoyou.com/amp/how-to-help-your-child-release-pee-in-the-potty My kiddo actually felt comfortable knowing he could pee by letting him pee during his bath. He found it playful and article actually mentions how it relaxes those muscle that are clenched. Holding it can be bad health wise as well as the longer he does it for the harder it is to break habit. Hope the article helps. I wish you all the luck in the world mama!
