SMA comfort milk

Anybody switched from normal stage 1 to comfort formula? My baby boy is just over 4 weeks old and suffering at night more so with colic and also only pooing every 3 days roughly. The doctor has suggested the formula change as I’ve tried gripe water, Infacol and dentinox and nothing seems to help. The doctor also started him on gaviscon yesterday. I didn’t notice any improvement last night being on the gaviscon. He also loves laying on his front rather than his back and seems much more content and comfortable but I know they say they shouldn’t be on their front yet to sleep. Would love to hear people’s advice or experiences with anything similar please?

Hey. I switched to comfort, I can’t drink milk myself and was giving my son aptamel but he was suffering so bad. I just did some research & made the switch on my own accord and since then he has been a different baby and he is only 19 days old xx

I would suggest getting a bigger teat for bottles tho as it’s a thicker formula and he was getting frustrated with it not coming out quicker x

With my first colief drops helped settle him more than infacol or dentinox, gaviscon can take a week to see an improvement x

Have you tried the babocush cushion ? My boy loves laying on his front so we got him that and it’s taking a while for him to get used to it as he’s strapped into it so he can’t fidget as much but it does help him after bottles I’ve noticed xx

@Sarah thank you very much. Was it the sma comfort formula or apatmil comfort? I’m pleased to hear it helped your baby. I’m hoping it’ll make the difference for my boy. I have a couple of the variflow teats already so that’s great to know. X

@Niamh that’s something I haven’t tried. Oh ok when I was reading about the gaviscon it was saying within 30 minutes you should notice an improvement but that’s definitely not the case. Thank you xx

@Kim no I’ve never heard of this but will look at one now. Thank you x

@Kayleigh we actually changed to Cow & Gate, was thinking of using aptamil but it was £18 compared to £14 and the ingredients seemed pretty the same x

@Kayleigh I would give it a go it didn't solve the issue for us because he had a milk allergy and reflux but it defiantly helped him more than anything else I was told to avoid infacol because its orange flavoured and would flare his reflux so we stopped that and swapped to colief, the gaviscon did help my son but it did take a week to see a big improvement he did have it quite bad tho, hope you get him sorted x
