Okay mamas, I’m at a loss…
My baby boy has had hypopigmentation since he was born pretty much. Which is fine, although it has become eczema and is now getting worse & worse. His pediatrician has given us hydrocortisone cream, then an antibiotic ointment and I have used Vanicream since he was born per our pediatrician. It was never this bad until summer, which also I agreed that wasn’t a surprise. It is not still seeming to get worse and more bumps are appearing all up and down his legs, which is cause more hypopigmentation. This may be more of a mom with a biracial kid question. But I am at a loss truly. I just want to help my little man. First thing he does before I apply anything it itch. But I just feel so bad that it’s spreading now.

I’m on the same boat *hugs*
I am trying to steal away from using hydrocortisone cream and usually use aveeno cream everyday 3-4 times a day. We live in Florida so it’s very humid and hot outside. Therefore, we stay away from the outside and leave the house in the car where there is AC.

my daughter had some on her chest when she was younger. we used the hydrocortisone cream for a week. over that we would put mango or shea butter allll over her. then after that week, 2-3x a day i would lather her in shea butter/mango butter to keep her skin moisturized and nourished.
i don’t recommend using lotions like eucerin and aveeno, just bc they are still kinda harsh and it’s better to go the natural route.
you can buy them on amazon and it’s affordable asf for the amount of product you get

I’ve just been using the hydrocortisone cream since he was born now and just bought the eucerin out of desperation. But had just been using an cream and aquaphor but it’s just getting worse

i used eucerin at first, but the breakouts and hyperpigmentation never really went away when using it. but when i switched to mango butter the patches went away

I’m sorry! It’s stressful! Mom of a biracial daughter with eczema/hyperpigmentation too!
So the products Drs recommend are overall toxic and only work temporarily. They don’t heal the issue and cause a reliance so when they come off later, they actually go thru withdrawal. It’s horrific.
Correct the gut. That’s key to eczema. Eliminate dairy/soy/processed foods until the gut is healed. Eat high fiber, (regularly give chia/flax seed) add extra plant points!
Probiotics, zinc, curcumin, dandelion root (all helpful supplements that can help heal).
Coconut oil, zinc balm, shea butter - Add in a few drops of tea tree oil/vitamin E for flair ups or even all natural grassfed tallow - NO PETROLEUM!
Oat baths/apple cider vinegar baths/or Dead Sea salt baths 👍🏼
Pipette, Honest, Babo Organics for any store bought creams or soaps
Red light healing wand is 👍🏼
Water filters if you have hard water
Molly Suds laundry detergent or make it yourself, baking soda, vinegar, castille soap

I struggled with this as a kid, i had it on my arms and face pretty bad. I still have a problem with it today. But one thing i do recommend is, if he is on any kind of dairy products, supplement those if you can because dairy causes it to flare up. Also, research into natural remedies that are skin safe — calendula. See if those make a difference

Hydrocortisone didn't work that great for my daughter. It would go away when applied but then come back when we stopped. I started using Aveeno night time eczema relief cream for her and it's done wonders!

Tubby Todd all over ointment should help with eczema. Agree with the above, something in his diet is causing a flare up. Hydrocortisone should be used temporarily to provide relief. It is known to cause hypopigmentation. I stopped using it for this reason and switched to using tubby Todd ointment for flare ups, moisturizing baby’s skin 3-4 times a day with cerave. Also my baby’s flare up was during her formula days, I switched formula and that helped a lot.

My girl has the same thing!
