Hi everyone. I went for my first scan today but very sadly, the heartbeat couldn’t be detected (I could see the baby and the sac etc.)
Based on my LMP I’m 7w1d or based on my ovulation date I’m 6w3d.
The place has very kindly booked me in for a free re-scan next week where I’m desperately hoping the heartbeat is visible.
I’m just wondering if anything similar happened to anyone else and the heartbeat was detected on a re-scan?
I’m so worried because of previous MCs so I’m just getting myself so upset over it ðŸ˜ðŸ’”

We had no heartbeat at our first scan which was 7w6d. She’s just turned 2!
Got everything crossed for you xx
thanks lovely. I’m in another group on Facebook and pretty much everyone in that group apart from 2 people told me that it’s not a good sign and I should definitely see the heart beating by now. I am just so terrified of something being wrong ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Fingers crossed for you xx

No 2 pregnancies are alike and dating is never accurate. I’d go by ovulation date if you were testing as it sounds like you don’t have regular periods? So 6w3d is super early. My gynae told us that anything before 8w is hit and miss if they get a heartbeat so you just have to wait and see unfortunately.
Could go either way but I don’t think they would have booked you in again if there was no chance of it being ok xx

I had an early internal scan at 5wk6d and there was no heartbeat, they sent me for bloods and told me to come back in 2 days time to repeat the internal scan and bloods and on the 2nd scan there thankfullywas a heartbeat, he's just turned 2 in June.
Fingers crossed it's just a little too early to see just yet but I would ask why they haven't sent you for bloods and why they are making you wait a week for the next scan especially given your history! X
it was at a private clinic, not an NHS scan, that’s why no bloods were taken. I don’t have my NHS scan booked for a while yet so we paid privately given the previous issues.
It was my choice to wait 1 week because I didn’t want to go back in 3 days time like they offered cause I felt it was too soon and would send me into a spiral if there was still no heartbeat x

I went private at 6 weeks due to bleeding I didn’t have a clue about whether the hospital would scan me then as their website said it wouldn’t until 7 weeks. I dated a few days behind at the scan and there was no heartbeat however as they could see I had a bleed next to the baby I was referred to the EPU and got a scan 4 days later at womens and in that time there was a heartbeat!
They really don’t recommend early scans until at least 8 weeks because of this very issue. In a baby group I’m in so many people the same issue was so common, some got a heartbeat at 6weeks some didn’t until closer to 7weeks!
You can never know for sure when you ovulate even if you are tracking it (apps are just a estimate and if you where tracking it sticks they just show a spike which again isn’t accurate) plus implementation ranges from 3-7days and the babies are so small that the tiniest fraction difference can put you at different dates and each sonographer can get a different measurement.

I’m 21weeks now and all is going well. I wish the same for you! It is so nerve wrecking I know but the chances are that by your next scan there will be a heartbeat!

Ah ok that makes more sense, I was told to go to my hospital early due to some bleeding as I was worried it could have been MC & they then thought it could have been ectopic.
I would have thought the NHS would offer early scans given your history, I'm sure I have relatives who have had early monitoring scans in the past.
I will keep everything crossed for you x

If you’re under the women’s I’m sure you can go to the early fetal assessment unit before your first scan, worth looking on their website :)

Ring epu in the women’s and explain, they should tell you to go down for bloods and another scan. X

i went in around 6 weeks and they couldnt hear the heart beat but i could see it. i went in for my recent app at 8 weeks and heart beat was strong. 🥰 give it time

I wouldn’t worry too much if your ovulation date was 6w3d that is early I had an internal scan at 7wks as I didn’t know was pregnant and had been bleeding I have suffered mc’s was told couldn’t have anymore kids due to my pcos but I didn’t see heartbeat on mine but midwife had to point it out too me was like a dot the baby an had this tiny flicker which was heartbeat so maybe midwife might of missed it just try not to stress an worry too much love I have my fingers crossed for you but try an book in for nhs one keep us updated xx

how did the fetal pole messure?
