I’m heading back to work in a little over 3 weeks. My 4-month old has been bottle fed expressed milk since birth but for about a month or so I’ve been nursing more: 2-3x a day. Lately she’s been fighting the bottle and prefers to nurse but I need her to bottle feed more since my hubby or mom is going to be home with her while I’m at work. During the day it’s a struggle to get her to finish her bottles but then packs in 2 bottles at 5pm, 8pm and nurse to sleep at 10pm. Then feeds 1-2x over night. Momma needs some sleep! Does this seem normal? She’s about 14 lbs. and the pediatrician says her weight is fine. Am I worrying for no reason? How am i supposed to go to work when I’m nervous about her eating?! Not too mention that I’m supposed to find time to pump at work…when? How often? I work from 8-4. I appreciate any tips or advice!

First step: breathe. Everything will work its way out.
2 - Are you feeding LO bottles right now, or is someone else doing it? If you are doing it, she may be fighting it because she knows breast is right there, and that is what she wants.
3 - pumping. Your profile says you are in NY. Me too! Based on that, the state says we get 10 minutes to pump every 3 hours required. That means if you feed her right before you leave, they should be giving you time to pump 3 hours from then and every 3 hours after that. Your profile also says you're a teacher. Again, me too! Try and feed her at a time that you have to ask for as little coverage as possible to avoid possible issues with admin.
4 - it sounds like you have already been pumping, but make sure you are able to work well with your pump and its settings to get the most out in the time you get. Have photos or videos on your phone to look through while pumping and bring a blanket or shirt she has worn, so you also have her smell to help protect your supply.

5 - breathe again. You've got this!
