I haven't been able to go camping since I was 3 months pregnant. I really miss it. The closest we've come to camping with him is renting a state park cabin. But that definitely doesn't count.
I want to go and take our son, but I'm a little nervous.
What does everyone do for sleeping arrangements? When we travel we take our pack and play. The issue is, at home or when we travel, my son will only sleep about half the night in his crib or pack and play.
My fiancé and I both have back problems so when we go camping we have to use an air mattress.
I'm nervous about co-sleeping on an air mattress. We have a queen. It's the same size as our bed at home. But they always lose some air by morning.
The tent we currently have is a 6-person tent, I believe. So the pack and play will probably still fit with the air mattress.
We have a smallish car, so we will probably have to rethink how we pack for a camping trip now that we have our son. With the pack and play, tent, and bedding, our trunk would be fully loaded.
When we were younger and healthier, we would go out with just the bare essentials. We were also both homesless in very rural areas as teens and lived off the land for long periods of time. But now I'm an adult, an over packer and a worrier 😂
We have a two night mini vacation planned for my fiances birthday in two weeks. He has a week off, and we only have plans for the first two nights.
I was trying to figure out what else we could do during his time off.
Does anyone have any advice or hacks for camping with a baby?

We tent camp and we usually sleep on blowup mattresses. I got my daughter a travel bassinet from Walmart and she was a pro camping. Other than that during the day she was in a Fisher-Price dome and I got the small handheld thermoscell to put behind her dome to keep mosquitoes off. Worked fab! We also bought a couple cans of fogger spray to put around the campsite when we first arrived and then every afternoon-ish.

You can message me if you want more hacks 🫶🏻 we love to camp with our two littles (almost 3yrs and now 6m)

I went camping with my son when he was about 6 months old. We have a very big tent so we got a really big air mattress and co sleep with it inflated all the way. I put my son on the outside up against the tent with a rolled blanket to be safe. I wouldn't sleep with him in between two adults on an air mattress. Also I made sure to bring my ergo baby carrier for hiking to the waterfall near by and made easier for doing things around the camp, setting up breaking down *
I have always co slept with my kids though so if you don't feel comfortable just bring the pack and play, if your baby wakes up once or twice that's totally normal. I have found sleeping in nature can actually help you sleep better ☺️
Also I really like to make sure I make a spray bottle of homemade deet free bug spray. Google some recipes to pick your favorite ❤️🙌

What I did, with a 9 month old, is lay down his pack any play mattress so both him and I could sleep on it. It’s a little thin but definitely safe for him; if you want a little more padding you could lay a thicker sleeping pad down next to the pack and play mat and sleep just a little ways off, and just cuddle him to sleep before getting back on your mattress. I personally was fine just laying down on his mat with him and having a blanket under my legs rather than a full length pad.
