It depends, every situation is different. But generally not until between 1-2 years depending how much time they have previously spent with dad etc. My son started overnights at 1 year old but he saw him 3 full days a week and my ex lived with us (before breaking up) until he was like 6/7 months old so he was used to him being around a lot. If he never lived with the child I don't think would be suitable until 18months to 2 years.

My LB pretty much went to his dad’s consistently from about 6 months old. Before that I lived with his family as they offered me somewhere to stay. I understand that not everyone is going to want to do that. It really depends on how capable dad is and how much you trust him. It’s much easier now my LB is older as he’s a little bit more sturdy and less off a fragile little newborn

Newborns should stay with the same person every night. It’s important for their development and healthy attachment to their main carer
