Hi Ladies..The father of my daughter's friend passed away. The girl is 8 years old;She is so young.Could someone tell me how can I help them.In my country we wear dark colours and visit the family.we could bring food. Am not so close to the mother but she is so nice.I don't want to act weird or be noisy to her.Could I ask that her daughter have a playdate in my house?Do I send flowers without a visit?would it be weird if I send her food delivery?

I would definitely send flowers but also, play dates are probably a good idea. I can’t imagine grieving the loss of my husband /partner and trying to pretend to be okay for my child. It can’t be easy.

This was me 2 years ago when my son was 6. I needed someone to just take over stuff for me. We got a ton of food, arranging a cleaning service and having playdates or taking her daughter out would probably be helpful. Honestly not much is going to ease her pain, but you can help things from not feeling completely overwhelming by doing things like cleaning, cooking, child care, offering to hang out or help make iPhone calls to deal with logistical stuff. I’m so sorry for the family and it’s so thoughtful of you to want to help
