Long journey
I’m going to be driving 3 and a bit hours by myself with my baby in the back to see family and I’m so nervous as he doesn’t like the car unless he’s napping. Has anyone else done the same and could give me any tips or anything to keep him busy whilst he’s not sleeping? He doesn’t really like toys in the car he just throws them

Is the car seat isn’t isofix you could put him in the passanger seat next to you. It’s just as safe as long as you turn off the airbag. He may be settled for longer if he can see you. You could sing to him to keep him entertained
When I drive 2 hrs to see my family, I usually give a milk feed, then leave about 30 mins before the first morning nap is due. So she is getting tired and more likely to drift off when her nap is due.
I put handing toys on the car seat handle to keep her occupied, and they can’t be thrown/dropped.
I play chilled nursery rhyme instrumentals on Spotify. Then she sleeps the rest of the way.
These are all things I’ve found help with our journey.
Sounds bad but it was necessary, as my car had no switch to switch the front airbag off and would cost a few hundred to fit on 😩 but I brought him a Amazon tablet and downloaded a couple of his favourite programmes to watch, worked a treat. He has it in the car only before I get judged by anyone 😅 xx

be careful with this. If you crash it’s likely that would come flying towards his face and could be fatal
I haven’t tried it on my own yet, my teenage daughter has been holding it for him, but will be buying something , have to find something that will fit under the mirror also 😩

I do a drive with my boy that's usually 2.5hrs. I always time it with a nap, will make sure he is fed ( and burped!) Before we leave. I'd plan when to stop. I use the keep calm playlist on Spotify. I have a mirror so I can see him and make sure he's OK. Try a toy connected to the car seat that t
Can be reached, that way if it falls they can get it back ok. Its always nerve wrecking....especially 1st time but worst case scenario, he wakes up, cries and its too much so you just stop. I promise it will get easier for everyone. Hope it goes well xx
