EARLY pregnancy bleeding — success stories?

Hi! I am pregnant with my first baby, and have had bleeding since last night. I am only 4w5d so I know there is a good chance this could be an early loss, but hoping someone might have experienced this before and has had a healthy pregnancy/baby?

I’m not in any pain, and still tested positive this morning (although I imagine that my HCG levels would not have dropped significantly enough to tell me one way or the other over night), but the blood has been pretty consistent since then. I feel like it has started to slow down, but it has been 21 hours since it started. the blood is bright-to-dark red and pretty much looks like period blood. It isn’t super heavy, but definitely would consider it to be too consistent to be referred to as “spotting.”

Please let me know if you have any experience with this, whether the outcome was positive or negative!

ALSO: I did contact my doctor but they said to call if i go through 2 pads per hour which is not the case yet

It could be an early loss but I bled pretty often for the first 2 months of my pregnancy. I didn’t even know I was pregnant because I kept bleeding so I kept thinking I was spotting or on my period.

I bleed when I was around 6 weeks. I have a healthy 8 month old ❤️❤️ I was so worried but it is normal to spot. X

thank you both for your replies ❤️ I know anything is possible, but it definitely is reassuring to know your babies are okay!!

I bled when I was around 7 weeks, had a scan and everything was fine and that it’s not uncommon to experience bleeding but to always mention it. I’m now 33 weeks pregnant x

Around 6 weeks I started bleeding and convinced myself I had lost the baby. I went to the EPU and they said it was just caused by tissue and baby was absolutely fine. He is now 12 days old 🥰
If you’re worried, deffo call the EPU and they’ll see you!

you’re all making me feel so much better ❤️❤️❤️ I know that it could go either way, but I am at the very least blessed to know I can get pregnant. so happy for you all and your healthy babies!! thanks so much!

I had brown bleeding at 5-6 weeks that went on for a full week. Baby is here. Doctor said it could have been implantation bleeding.

I'm currently 31 weeks. I had bleeding at 9 weeks, no pain or cramps or any other symptoms. They checked me over in A&E and I got an internal scan the next day which showed a healthy heartbeat.
I also had bleeding again at about 16 weeks, this time fairly heavy with clots. Went in, got checked out and it was all absolutely fine.
Some people just have sensitive bodies and cervixes, I'm one of them.
Obviously it's early for you so it's hard to get checked out but don't jump to the conclusion that it's definitely a loss, it may not be.
I hope everything works out for you xx

I bled around 5 weeks. Started with brown discharge spotting and then bright red blood, quiet alot for me to panic & think im miscarrying (ive had a miscarriage before)
However it kept getting lighter & then stopped. Never did find out what it was but i have a healthy 4 month old & had no problems during rest of the pregnancy x

I mean I had some spotting in my pregnancy early but it’s always good to go get checked out if you are worried.

I bled about 9/10 times between getting pregnant and 20 weeks. Due in a few weeks and all looking well!

I bled really bright red blood around 7/8 weeks for about half a day, and now I have a healthy 5 month old baby boy. Try to hang in there! It doesn’t always mean the worst 💙

I bled between 5 weeks to 10 weeks. All shades - pink, red and brown. They never found the reason why. Was terrifying as I’d had multiple losses before that all started with bleeding. However this time the bleeding would always slow down rather than get heavier. Bleeding doesn’t always mean a miscarriage..As that pregnancy is now my beautiful baby girl. Always get checked if you’re concerned though! 🩷

Just to be on the side of caution I will say get it checked out at A&E or ring 111 if you’re in the uk. I think bleeding is pretty common with my current pregnancy I haven’t had any but my last I did and it turned out to be ectopic and I had to have surgery. I’m not in anyway saying this will be the case for you but it’s definitely something to get checked out just to be on the safe side, better to be cautious, don’t stress though it’ll all work out💗

I had bleeding from week 6 to week 20. Sometimes it was light red, tinted discharge and sometimes dark brown, I had no cramping. I did go for an emergency early scan at 8 weeks as there was quite a bit but was all good.
Baby girl is now 16 weeks and absolutely fine☺️
But I’d suggest always get checked if your worried x

I have bled this time and I mean like 3 periods worth and I’m now 15+4

I had bleeding on and off for the first 20weeks of pregnancy turned out to be a polyp on my cervix that eventually detached itself during the pregnancy.

Avatar

I’ve bled a few different times throughout so far and I’m currently 24 weeks. I was terrified and they did a viability scan mine was also accompanied with cramps and he was still doing great and still is so far!

Avatar

thank you all so much for your success stories ❤️ unfortunately I tested this morning and looks like my lines are fading so we most likely lost the pregnancy

Avatar

I’m so sorry to hear but if you are still early it can be tricky on the test. I would suggest just calling your doc to make double sure.

I was bleeding for a while before I realised I was even pregnant. I thought it was my period and it was on and off heavy etc and then a week later I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant. My little girl was born in June a healthy weight and is a happy little bundle of joy ❤️ hoping everything is ok for you x

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

It’s my birthday tomorrow.

Ok so I am going to be 35 years young. I can’t believe how much this life has thrown at me but it’s okay I’m a survivor. I am truly blessed to be alive. 🥳🧁🎂 The only downside is I won’t be celebrating my birthday because my man can’t take me out. So many emotions right now.
