If you allow screen time how much do you allow? Will you increase as baby gets older?
I’ll have the tv on in the background for myself and sometimes I catch baby watching, is this bad? Things I’ll put on for baby include mrs rachel, Disney lullabies, coco melon. We don’t have screen time every day but if we do it’s between 10 minutes - 30 minutes. I hope I’m not messing with baby development. Baby is 12.5 weeks old.
Baby has been hitting all milestones and is a very happy baby

Personally I’m a little scared about screen time cause the doctor said no screen time until two years old! I think you should talk to your babies paediatrician. For me they told me that it stops their other senses from developing because they get so focused on the tv.

But also, I think it’s super hard to not have screen time till the age of two. I think I may go crazy

Following for comments/advise. My friend has her 4 month old in front if the tv for 2-3 hours a day and when we go visit my 3 month old is watching the screen too. We dont watch tv at home but I'm wondering the same as you, if its really bad for them at this age?

Yes it’s terrible. No screen time before the age of two is the medical recommendation. Otherwise it leads to developmental delays in the long run.

Personally TV can be used as an educational tool if done properly... I'm working on making my child bilingual (french and english) so I sit with him singing songs and learning words in french since my partner only speaks English. There are always medical recomendations but it can also be how you use it and how long. We only do 15 min maximum a day and not everyday. Our son is 12.5 weeks old now.
what educational screen time do you use?

All my screen time for my son os educational (in a language sense 🙂) I only do 15 min a day if I do it because I dont do it every day. We watch paw patrol in french and song videos! He is always on my lap when we do it so I can interact with him

Unpopular opinion here: if you need to use screen time as a tool for a short amount of time so you can get in a workout, tidy the house, do some meditation or anything that will make you a better more patient version of yourself then I’m all for it. Try for under 20 minutes a day. There’s baby sensory videos that are not too simulating for a baby that young.

I have a 3 year old daughter and she watches TV since she was a baby. She knows the entire alphabet, rhymes, counts to 10, various shapes, colors etc....and I haven't taught her anything myself; she learned it all through TV!
She is probably more advanced and active than most kids her age.
I used to be shamed or guilted by giving her screen time but there was no way I could take a shower or cook a meal without having her watch some TV. Of course she doesn't sit the entire day infront of the screen. Rather I break it into segments where she gets to play in between as well. Make sure the shows they watch are high quality such as Ms Rachael.
Your baby will be just fine and don't let other people scare you. Your baby is hitting milestone and that is enough!
thank you ❤️ needed to hear that!

Honestly... one thing people dont say enough is you are doing great!! No two parents do the same as it is a personal choice what you are comfortable with. You are doing the best you can and that is all your little one can ask for! 😊
