Siblings

Sooo I know everyone holds different opinions on older siblings watching younger siblings. I want to hear your opinions…

My 14 and 13 year old watch my 1 year old 2 times a week while I work. Only for like 3 hours because my husband goes to sleep early for work. I feel guilty some days although they say they really don’t mind. I don’t pay them for the days i work but we do pay if my husband and I go on a date. On the days I’m off (5days) I let them do whatever they want.

Does this seem fair? Do you think they will feel like they had no childhood?

I think first of all elder brothers or sisters watching after younger siblings is a great way to let them be more responsible during their life journey. Maybe sometimes they will complain about this situation now but later on they will remember this with smiling faces believe me. I had to watch after my younger sister when I was a child at the age of 9,10,11 etc… all the time actually. We were at the same school with her and I watched after her there too :) during those times I had moments that I felt exhausted but now I am so glad I did all this . She is my best friend now and I remember every step growing her up. The good times. Human brains are supposed to remember good things not the bad things. And this isn’t even bad ! Watching after younger siblings. Let your elder children be more responsible ! Good luck 🍀

I think as long as they’re cool with it and if you compensate them it’s okay. If you’re making them do it or making them feel guilty if they don’t, then they’ll either resent you or the babies when they grow up. My parents did that to my oldest brother (7 years older) and I feel like he never liked me since I was born lol
