Hey all, I’ve been off my BC for over a year now with no pregnancy yet. We’ve very much been trying without trying (not watching cycles, planning, etc. just doing our regular stuff and hoping we might get lucky) but have not conceived.
I’ve always had an irregular cycle since I first started at 12. I’ve only been to a gyno once and I’ve since moved states. I have no doctors here (not even a PHP) and I don’t even know where to start looking.
The only gyno I saw (shortly after stopping my BC last year) told me she didn’t think I ovulate naturally and would probably need hormone treatments to kickstart ovulation. She said she wasn’t that concerned about it being something harmful to me, just a bump in the road to conceiving, and said to let her know when we were actually ready and then we would readdress the issue. Which is why I never went back.
Does anyone have any tips on where to start for this? We’re ready to start seriously trying but we’re feeling kind of lost. None of our family has ever dealt with any fertility issues and we’re feeling very alone.
I live in Northern New Jersey, if it’s applicable.

Have you considered Accupunture. It can help with fertility and regulating your cycles?
It would also be worth tracking your basal body temperature and taking LH tests to see if and when you do ovulate.

It might be worth cycle tracking using an app/ovulation sticks, I ovulate almost a week earlier than is ‘normal’ so if I’d not tracked and we’d DTD around the ‘normal’ time, it would never have worked for us. Friend of mine also had the medication to kickstart ovulation and it worked well, it’s just whatever you need to do, try not to worry too much 🤍

1. Use basal body temperature and at home ovulation kits to help you figure out if you’re ovulating
2. Irregular cycles are not normal and should be dealt with. Your gyno will be able to do blood tests to see if you are ovulating and also prescribe meds to help you ovulate if you’re not doing so naturally.
Don’t try to figure this all out by yourself. See a professional, they have years of experience in this and will be able to guide you and create a plan that works for your body. x
