Got monitored lastnight as I had back cramps, turns out they're not braxton hicks and are in fact tightenings which I was shocked about. The doctor and midwife said it seems I'm in the latent phase but my cervix is still closed, has anyone else had this?
How long was your latent phase?

Yes I had this, I was in latent labour for a few days but it got worse over the 3 days and then turned into proper contractions. I used a tens machine which really helped, the one from boots is brilliant x

@Charlotte I've had cramps on and off for a week, but yesterday the back cramps were just constant, contracting lastnight every 7/10 mins and then died down, but back cramps are back today pretty bad again, will definitely see if I can get one! X

I had this and it was so painful it got more intense at night. It happened to me for around 2/3 days and then my waters broke but I was only 2cm dilated when that happened

sounds like it’s getting closer to baby arriving, hope all goes well and you’re not in latent labour much longer! It got to the point where I couldn’t sleep even with the codeine they gave me so I went back in and they gave me diamorphine so i could sleep for a few hours. When I woke up I was 5cm! X

I was in latent phase labour for just over 2 weeks, it was horrible because I was getting pains and tightenings and feeling groggy but no progression! When I eventually started having proper contractions it was only about 15/16 hours before I had my baby x

My tightenings/contractions aren't too regular today, they're coming and going but the back pain is just there constantly now! Hoping it doesn't last too long as its so so painful😔 they gave me codeine lastnight too and it didn't even touch the pains, I'm just hoping I go from 0 dilation to 4 pretty quickly x

if that’s happened then I would suggest going back and asking to be checked to see how dilated you are. If you’re less than 5cm then you can have diamorphine and get some rest before the big event 😅 x

Yeah I was in prodromal (slow latent phase) for three weeks 🤪 I went in for a well-being check and they could see contractions on the monitor that I wasn’t feeling apart from at night when they got a LOT stronger. When he decided it was time, my established labour was pretty quickly and the midwife (I had a home birth) arrived with 40min to go so all she had to do was watch.
If you’re in a lot of pain and you can’t control it with breathing and relaxation, perhaps consider going in for a check and getting some more pain relief?

I was in the same boat. Also had a horrendous back pain but apparently, this was due to baby being backtoback. Also boots tesnse machine really helped. You can do it!!

3 days of constant contractions before she appeared. I was well overdue and booked in for an induction so I was in hospital for most of it
