Hi everyone! I just wanted to know if there was anyone else similar to my situation, my cervix is on the shorter side measuring 27mm at 21.5 weeks pregnant which has started to make me concerned although my midwife has told me not to worry unless it’s <25mm. Anyone else had this problem?

My friend had same issue but not sure of the number of the mm now .but she was told she couldn't give normal birth, so it was a compulsory c-section for her..if your midwife says you should not worry about it, then it means that you are good to go..goodluck

Hiya, I had 28mm. She said it was totally fine, average is 30mm. She said they only start to get concerned at 25mm. My report says no risk of preterm labour as a result of my cervix measurement xx

no they haven’t offered me routine checks as it’s just above 25mm and still technically ‘normal’, but I will be asking for them to be safe!

Hi Everyone, where can you get a cervix measurement? Do they just offer you one at the midwife appointment or do you have to ask?

hi, I don’t think it’s routine to offer it. I believe it’s if there are underlying reasons, in my case I had a LEEP procedure so a chunk of my cervix was removed 3 years ago xxx

I had this 10 years ago and have my first consultant appointment next week. I think this is what it’s about. How do they measure it? Is it something I need to booked in specifically for? It’s not at my local hospital but the one I’ll give birth at

they do a trans vagina ultrasound, it’s not painful just slightly uncomfortable (a bit like a smear test) and they’re so nice about it. I had mine at the hospital I’d give birth at (the bigger one)
