Hi! Anyone got any labour induction advise/positive stories? Looking likely I’ll be induced tomorrow due to being over 41 weeks and I’m not looking forward it!
Edit: I’m also advised against epidural due to medication and blood clotting and if I’m to have a C-section I’ll have to be put to sleep due to the same issues :(

My induction wasn't great but that wasn't the fault of any of the staff, they were so lovely and helpful! Make sure to ask for pain relief if you really need it and if your induction is taking a long time or you feel exhausted don't be afraid to push for a c section. I wish I'd asked for one sooner, my birth ended in emergency c section and I think it was because I was so exhausted from the induction process and labouring on top of that. Best of luck and hope you have your little one in your arms soon! X

I really don’t want a C-section as I’ll have to be put to sleep due to medication 😓

I'd definitely advocate for having an epidural if you're going to be induced - I didn't want one but found within an hour of the drip kicking in that the contractions were back to back. At York, once I'd asked for an epidural, I had it within about 40 minutes.

I had a really positive experience - whilst it was a bit of a long slog (began induction Wednesday and had baby Friday) the staff were so lovely and explained all my options really well. I also feel like they have good advice based on their own experiences for example my midwife said that she had two babies - one was induced via hormone drip one was not and in her experience the induced labour was way more painful so she advised that if I wanted the epidural (which I did) to have it as soon as possible. She made the room so relaxing with aromatherapy and a star projector and I had spa music on and I managed to sleep through all my active labour on the Friday right up until I had to push. They checked in on me and baby frequently through the whole process and kept me informed. Also know they won’t push you to have a C-section unless there is a medical emergency - they knew that for me a C-section was a last resort and supported me with that choice. Good luck 😊

I wish I could have an epidural but again due to medication I’m advised strongly against it

absolutely makes sense, the midwives and consultants are very supportive and will be supportive of that. As others have said epidural will help a lot if you're on the hormone drip, I didn't feel any contractions at all and was able to have the epidural before they started the drip x

Unfortunately I can’t have an epidural due to medication :(

I had an induction in York last week and now I'm snuggled up with my cuddly baby. Just keep thinking of the end goal, baby will be here soon! 💕

I went in to York for a routine appointment at 38 weeks and was told I was having to be induced the same day due to stunted growth.
The midwives were great, explained everything to me a million times as nothing really went in as I was so shocked. I opted for the balloon induction and they were great at explaining how it works, how long I’ll be waiting and what would happen if it didn’t work.
For me, everything happened at the times they said it would, the lead up to breaking my waters was calm and informed. The actual labour was hard but I’m sure all labours are! Every midwife I saw had all the time in the world for me and I couldn’t thank them enough.
All I’d say is ask all the questions, take your time and trust your gut xx
