No point to this post apart from the fact that I’ve just been scrolling through some of these posts and the things I’ve been reading are ABSURD!!!! Where the fuck have all of these women come from & why on earth do they think it’s okay to behave and treat their daughters in law this way? I cannot believe it

Hurt people hurt people 🤷🏻♀️.
Most of them are millennials who never healed their trauma or their weird relationships attachments so they project it onto their in laws.

don’t think that’s what the post means babe.

she’s surprised with the stories shared about MIL’S and she finds it hard to believe that women like them treat their daughter in law so horribly. I’m just saying perhaps those women are just wounded and that’s why they act the way they do.

I think that’s very easy to say when you don’t have a horrible MIL.

oh, I’m not supporting them babes. There’s a reason why I belong to this group. I’m just trying to find a psychological reasoning for their behavior, which is not correct

well speak for your self because I haven’t done anything to make my MIL act the way she does and I don’t see much at all on this group that makes me think that it’s the daughter in laws fault. If there’s any one to put blame on it’s the MIL and usually their sons

I think personally it’s due to our generation setting boundaries and not dropping LO off as soon as they’re born to spend the night with them.
They aren’t happy that we prioritise safety (not kissing etc) and spending time with our children.
They were a generation that had their parents basically raise their kids and expect us to do the same and aren’t happy that we aren’t doing it the way they did.

Sorry, I think my comment could’ve been easily misunderstood. What I meant is MIL got issues themselves. Most of the time their daughter in laws can be amazing people, and they don’t deserve to be treated the way they do. But those women (MIL) are wounded, they only know how to act through their trauma and hurt others. Yes, they’re the ones to blame for all their wrongdoings.

oh! Yes I agree, that makes sense. I misunderstood because you said most of them millennials when that’s us lol

yeah that part confused me, cause my sister is an elder millennial and I’m a younger millennial and we are nowhere close to having grandkids (10/6/2 yo kids). Grandparents to this generation are gen x and boomers

it’s baby boomers. That’s probably where the confusion is coming from 🤣 but yes, I 100% agree with your comment haha

I do wonder whether some of these crazy, oppressive, controlling MILs ultimately faced the same behaviour when they were mothers to young children but never spoke up. They perhaps thought they'd get their chance at motherhood with their grandchildren but then their DILs do speak up and (rightly so) want the experience for themselves. I wonder if some of them have kind of missed out both ways.
In other situations, I think they perhaps feel like they're the only people who know how to parent, are overly matriarchal and/or are determined to be so involved because their perception is that the grandchild isn't as closely connected to them being their son's child, rather than their daughter's child.
Or they're just batshit crazy.
Either way, it's not acceptable.
when my LG was born, my MIL must’ve said to me about 10 times in the first hour of meeting my daughter “I’m sorry if I’m taking over, my mum did it to me so it’s all I know”. “Sorry if I’m coming across controlling and possessive”. She was in fact not sorry lol. When I asked her to stop, she didn’t like it and didn’t speak to myself or my partner for a whole month. Then had the cheek to message last week saying I haven’t taken into consideration HER feelings 🫠 it is a joke.
