Severe itching

Heya, I just turned 36 weeks and I’ve suddenly started to get suuuper itchy especially at night. It’s mostly my upper belly where the skin isn’t even that stretched yet… I asked Dr Google and read about cholestasis of pregnancy and how severe itching is the main symptom. I don’t have a rash or anything either other than when I give into the itch and scratch which I am really really trying to avoid but it’s keeping me from being able to sleep. Like it’s not already hard enough to sleep at night 😭 anybody else have this and your doctor said it’s fine? I seeing my doc on Monday so I’ll for sure ask but I figured doesn’t hurt to see if anyone here is experiencing sth similar.

Just your skin stretching. Be sure to put oil or lotion on your skin multiple times a day and drink water

I do that’s why I am more anxious about this. Been very good about hydrating and keeping my belly soft. And like I said it’s not even itchy in the most stretched part but farther up right under my Boobs/ over my ribs

definitely give your OB a call asap and have bloodwork done. if it is cholestasis, which sounds like it could be, they usually try and get baby out before 37 weeks to significantly reduce the risk of any harm, especially stillborn. not trying to scare you at all, but definitely something that should not be put on back burner. hopefully it’s just skin stretching or something mild, but in this case much better to be safe now than sorry later — sending you and babes all the love and good vibes 🩵 keep us updated!!!

I spent all of Sunday in the hospital bc of uncontrollable itchiness with no rash. Mainly my feet and hands throughout the day but was all over my body during the night (Saturday night)

We monitored baby and did blood work for cholestasis. Baby was fine and everything normal. My bile levels barely came back today, normal but they can fluctuate (being higher at night) so I am going to have more labs done but at night.

They did mention if my bile levels were high they would induce me at 37/38 weeks and have stress tests for the baby 1-2 a week until induction. I’m Currently 35 weeks.

I am super cautious and lowkey OCD about my skin and hygiene so I know it’s not normal skin stretching etc.
it was crazy unbearable itchiness all over.

My Dr told me to take Benadryl in the mean time.. as there is no cure to cholestasis. (Can’t be itchy while your knocked out sleep lol) They did offer ursodiol but I declined bc there are more side effects and cause other issues

I’m sorry that you too had to go through this! It’s already so complicated to sleep, and not stress about every new symptom we go through lol
But hope whatever it is you and baby are ok!

Feel free to message me if you need support/to vent about this! I’d like to know more about what your DR says or diagnosis is
