Ex wedding

I recently put up a poll about my MIL & SIL talking to me constantly about my OH Ex Gf’s wedding. She yesterday I had to endure an hour of SIL talking and showing me photos of what they all will be wearing to the wedding. I just said comments like oh that’s nice, pretty etc and I’m sure you will have a nice time.

I’m sick of it now and have mentioned it to my OH I don’t understand why they feel the need to talk to me about it. My OH seems to think they aren’t doing it on purpose or to get a reaction out of me. My SIL is passive aggressive and I know if I say anything it will be I’m sorry you feel that way but I can’t do anything about your feelings.

The ex gf was originally still friends with my OH until she tried to get back with him after finding out about me, texting 100s of times a day and turning up at his work multiple times crying about how good they were together and how terrible her bf is (at the time not the one she’s marrying) prior to this. They would maybe talk once a month. Once this happened I just said I’m removing myself from this situation because I don’t want the stress of it in my life. He decided that it was too much and cut her off, he never explained this to his MIL or SIL who think she’s pretty wonderful as she is a doctor and fits their ideal. Over the years they just banged on about her, even calling me her name on multiple occasions, even though we look nothing alike at all. I’m pretty much at the end of my wits, allowing them to compare me to her, and them feel making me feel like I’m not good enough.

I’m not sure whether to broach the subject with them or just stay away from them until the wedding is over and done with and a couple of months of past after it.

Just feeling fed up, and needed a place to vent Sorry for moaning and Thank you for reading.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. There is nothing worse that feeling provoked by in-laws especially because as much as you want to retaliate you know it will always be held against you that you made a fuss or lashed out.

I don’t know what to suggest except speaking to your OH again and asking him to have a word. I’m going through something a bit different but feel like in-laws are not respecting boundaries and my brother in laws new girlfriend is being very passive aggressive and driving a wedge between a me and my in-laws who I previously had an amazing relationship with. My husband never ever sees anything anyone does as malicious or calculated and is dismissing my feelings and saying it is down to her anxiety and she just wants to be included

It’s really hard to know what to do because it feels like such a loose loose situation

Thanks husbands never see it do they. I think mine walks around with his eyes closed to it because they walk all over him and he never complains.

I hope your situation gets better, it’s really hard to deal with passive aggressive people as most people feel like the sun shines out of their arse. My SIL gets everyone to dance to her tune because she’s got generalised anxiety which fair enough if she has but doesn’t mean the rest of us have to tip toe around her walking on egg shells.

"Please stop talking to me about this wedding. I'm not bitter, I don't wish her any ill will, and I do not feel threatened by her in any way. But I am also not interested in constantly hearing about a wedding that I will not be attending. So, either stop telling me about it all the time, or plan on me keeping distance from y'all until after the wedding is over."

thank you. You’ve put that brilliantly. I’m going to practice saying it word for word

I’d snap.. obviously the husband doesn’t think it’s an issue, tell them to stop or ignore them…
