Sleep help!

My baby is 4 months old, since birth he has never been a great sleeper, he is literally awake every 2/3 hours and the only way I can get him back off is by making him a bottle! He is having 2/3 short naps in the day and when he goes to bed in the evening he will do a really good stretch of sleep like 5 hours then after that it goes down hill and I feel like his awake a lot 😫 Any advice would be much appreciated 🫶🏼

Honestly, I think the best thing you can do is to accept that this is how it is currently - I promise you, it will change ! And go to sleep with him so you also get the 5 hour stretch.

I can't type well with left hand but the days feeds will be seeing him through that 5 hour stretch because prior to that he's had little and often feeds topping him up. After that, he's had no little and often cuz he's been asleep for 5 hours so he needs regular feeds. You could try breaking the 5 hours up by feeding him sooner than he wakes up so his sleep stretches are all a little longer. Spend more time feeding him when he wakes up after 5 hours, give him a big split feed. You could accept you have a good 5 hour stretch of sleep. My baby wakes up at 4, I call it '2 feed4' cuz he hasnt snacked prior cuz he's been asleep, he needs two feeds. It takes longer awake but he sleeps until 9 then. Sorry I can't type lol holding baby

Oh mama hang in there I promise it’ll get better really soon. Believe it or not sleeping 6 hours a night is considered sleeping through 🥴 it’s normal to Still need 1-2 night feeds at that age. If you want him to sleep longer, you can try dream feeds. Basically you give a bottle 1 hour before bed, then offer another right at bedtime. There’s different variations on this approach. Basically give them more calories during wake hours so they don’t need as many at night

Night waking is totally normal until at least 3yo so just hang in there. 🫠 5hrs stretch at 4mo is so good all considered.
