Reflux

Any other reflux mums struggling? My little boy is 5 weeks and I’m struggling so much mentally with dealing with his reflux. He’s sick after every feed and soaks through a bib/clothes, sometimes even projectile vomiting all over me too.

He’s on gaviscon from the drs but makes him constipated and doesn’t massively help. They’ve now prescribed omeprazole but I’m worried about the side effects of giving him it. Has anyone got any recommendations of what they’ve tried that’s helped? He’s breast fed and has had a tongue tie which has now been cut on the nhs. Tried all the usual burping lots and sitting him up after feeding etc.

It’s getting to the point where I’m dreading feeding him as I know what’s coming and even worried about taking him out places as I sometimes have to change my clothes afterwards. I’m contemplating swapping him on to formula as reflux on top of pumping and feeding I just feel totally deflated by it all. I was really hoping we could be out at sensory classes or popping out but I just don’t feel that this is possible right now ☹️ I’m scared to even do tummy time with him as he will bring his feeds back up. He’s still gaining weight etc and isn’t showing any other signs of an allergy. He’s just fussy sometimes during feeds/afterwards.

Highly recommend a trip to a paediatric chiropractor, they are honestly complete magicians!

My first was a reflux baby, i am starting to think my second has it too.
First was prem so got put on the omeprazole whilst in hospital and within a week he was so much better. His was more silent reflux so he wasn't overly sick much but was still uncomfortable and unsettled. The omeprazole worked wonders for this. I expressed milk and mixed the omeprazole in with his bottle. He has always been an amazing sleeper aswell and still is (touch wood) he didn't have any side effects from the medication. I would say it's worth giving it a go for atleast a week if it's going to make baby and you happier in the long run xx

I could have written this post. My boy is four weeks and we’re in exactly the same situation - sick after feeding, sometimes several times, sometimes projectile vomiting over me too. I’m having to change his (and my) clothes constantly and even after night feeds when I just want to sleep I’m sitting him upright for half an hour (even though it seems to make no difference). It puts me off doing things/going anywhere and I’m really frustrated. No advice to offer, but sending hugs.

oh gosh so sorry you’re going through the same thing I really wouldn’t wish reflux on any baby/mum it’s been so hard so far I just keep praying things will get better. Mornings always seems to be the worst for him as well which sets me up for a bad vibe for the rest of the day 😢 hope you’re little one gets better with it soon 💙

Sending hugs, in the exact same boat so completely feel you its so tough isn't it. Dr said that they'll likely grow out of it from around 8 weeks so fingers crossed and hang in there.
We switched to formula fully as I was finding pumping and sterilising the pump on top of everything else too much, and my supply wasn't brilliant anyway. Do what feels right for you.
I also do feel scared to go out but it will get easier i'm sure in weeks/months to come and there will be lots to look forward to! Hope the babies all get better with it soon 💙

I am in the same boat. My lo is 5 weeks and it’s been hella crazy. She is so unsettled and seems to be in distress after every feed. My GP prescribed lansoprazole but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. I don’t know what to do

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

How many words

Just a quick gauge of how many words your little ones are saying at this age. I heard by 15 months it should be 5 words, are most around this mark ?
