So I’m 8 weeks pp and have found the postnatal aftercare with the NHS absolutely shocking… well, it’s basically non existent! 😒 I raised some concerns at my 6 week check up (pains during low impact exercise, incontinence when coughing and sneezing etc) but the GP brushed it all off as ‘normal’ and just told me to keep doing kegel exercises. She didn’t even do any kind of physical exam or look down there by the way. I hadn’t had ANYONE actually examine the area or my stitches since day 3 pp!
So I booked a mummy MOT which a fellow mum friend recommended to me with a private physio and had my session today. Gals it is AMAZING!! If you’re having any issues with incontinence or core/pelvic pains DON’T let the GP rush you out the door telling you it’s normal! It ISN’T and there are things you can do to improve it over time, not just basic kegels!
She did a full examination of my pelvic floor muscles, core muscles, posture, breathing etc and thoroughly checked all my scars and perineum etc. She has identified the weaknesses in my pelvic floor and has given me a personalised ‘training’ programme to help me restore it all properly, and she helped me learn how to actually do a kegel exercise properly because I’ve never been shown how to do one before (turns out I was doing them wrong!)
Cost £90 but was worth every penny. I now feel reassured and confident that I’ve had everything thoroughly checked and am on the right path to recovery 😁 and I now know how to get back into exercise properly and workout while engaging my pelvic floor. Book yourselves in for one ladies!!

What a wonderful post ♥️ so glad you got the help you needed. If only everyone could afford such wonderful support

so true, it’s shocking that basic pelvic floor guidance or aftercare isn’t a part of the postnatal care!😩

Thank for this advice. Wish I’d seen it a year ago

Couldn’t agree more! I went for one at the paddock clinic and it was so good, best bit of mummy self care I’ve done!

I'm sure mines over the phone but I've been thinking, how will they check my c section wound over the phone 🤷🏼♀️😶

Who/where do you book it with?

Google mummy mot and anyone who does them should come up xx

thank you xx

Totally agree with care even during pregnancy is shocking compare to other countries!
Good to know there is this possibility as was plan go private for check up 😅
