Why is my HCG levels so high when I'm only 4 weeks? The scan isn't showing a sac yet, just the implantation "ring"

they said that there should be some type of gestation sac by now and theres not so that's worrying, but doesn't explain why the HCG is so high x

What are your hcg levels for your gestation?

2049 IU/L according to my letter

And they’ve definitely ruled out pregnancy of unknown location or ectopic?

So sorry you’re going through this 😕

I second what Elise has said, have they mentioned a potential ectopic?x

yes they've said the scan shows nothing else and also got no signs of a ectopic and they did tests too examinations x

they've pretty much ruled that out z

And the hcg doubled after 48 hours (i.e. you’re not seeing a slow rise)? I’m stumped then if they’ve ruled out ectopic. Both my OB and fertility doctor told me that as soon as you hit 1500 you should at least see a sac if the fertilized embryo has successfully implanted in the uterus. But if you’re 4 weeks, you wouldn’t see a sac until at least 5 so hopefully you’ll see something in about a week or so and maybe it is so high because you’re looking at twins! Do you have a follow up scan booked?

I have to go back saturdat for the HCG recount 😊 and they will be booking a scan for 1-2 weeks time later to check again x

It's not that unusual. And it seems like they're following you up appropriately. Xx

Some people just have high hcg levels. Mine has been high and my midwife said it is nothing to worry about. That it just means that you have a really nice environment for baby to develop in.

Maybe twins?

I went to the ER for bleeding a few weeks ago, I thought I was around 6 weeks and my HCG was on the lower side. Fast forward to my midwife appointment at what I thought was almost 12 weeks and I got pushed back to 8 weeks gestation and my HCG was actually pretty high.

Just to add my HCG at 4w4d was 2360 and I was worried it was too high but had a healthy pregnancy etc in the end. There is a large range of normal HCG. Your still very early so maybe waiting a week or 2 to see what another scan says but obviously if you get pains/bleeding call them up.
