Allergic reaction

So my husband and I were transitioning our 12 month old to soy milk(for the last two days only) bc whole milk seems to be constipating. Well my baby has hives all over his back and bottom. No wheezing or anything too severe but what do I do about getting rid of the hives or how long will the rash last?

Is this his first time having anything with soy in it?

yes

Ah okay probably safe to assume it is the soy then. If you just stop giving it to him and he isn't having issues with breathing, the hives should resolve on their own soon. If he seems itchy you could rub some hydrocortisone cream on the hives or give him a lukewarm bath to soothe the skin. I would avoid any kind of benedryl unless you are given specific instructions by your doctor to give it.

thank you so so much!

Welcome! If it doesn't get better soon or gets worse you will have to start looking for what else he might be allergic to. Other sources might be new diapers, new laundry detergent, possibly heat rash or something else.

Just so you’re aware it’s normal to run into constipation with whole milk. I’d go back to that. Make sure you’re giving a lot of fruits and fiber to help soften the 💩 and they’ll be fine

thank you love, I went back to it today for sure

If it is the soy milk, you could try almond milk (make sure baby I add not allergic to nuts) or just lactose free milk.
