Red Raspberry Leaf Tea

Okay so during my first pregnancy in 2020, I was under the impression that Red Raspberry Leaf Tea was to help the labor process in itself (i.e., help it be a smoother/quicker process and even help naturally induce labor). That said, I didn't really start drinking it til after finding out at a weekly appt at 36.5 weeks that I was already a few cm dilated. I stayed dilated for the next 2 weeks so continued to drink the tea as I was anxiously on baby watch and at 37+ weeks was ready for labor and to meet my son. Not sure if the tea had anything to do with it, but my son came a week early at 39 weeks on his own, through a very precipitous labor (1.5hrs from feeling 1st contraction to his birth).

But lately I've been reading on these threads that it's common to start drinking the tea in the 3rd trimester period. Is that a thing? Is it NOT (only) to induce or help a quicker labor? I'm 31 weeks so I wonder if it's just a health benefit to start drinking it now, but it makes me nervous given my first labor's history. My son was almost a roadside baby & although I'm not against a quick/easy labor (or early, if not too early), I definitely don't want it too close for comfort again, especially since 2nd births are already rumored to labor more quickly!

I drank the tea with my first pregnancy at 27 weeks and didn't have my son till 38 weeks. I only pushed for 7 minutes. So I'm going to do the same this time around. I had such an amazing birth experience and I like to think it had a lot to do with the tea and making sure tonwalk everyday.

I started drinking 1-2 cups a day at 30 weeks! After being given the ok from my midwife. My understanding is it’s not to induce labor but more to strengthen the uterus and prep body for a more effective labor. Hope this helps 🥰

Where did you order the tea from? Care to share the link and info

@Monae sorry, I don't quite remember since it was 3 years ago. But it would've been my local grocery store (kroger or Harris teeter) or on Amazon

The tea does not induce. It tones the uterus. I’ve been drinking it throughout my whole pregnancy with the permission of my midwives and my herbalist.

Red raspberry leaf tea just helps your muscle tone. I used to drink it for muscle spasms that were painful. It won’t cause your baby to come sooner. Mine was a week over due!

That said, if you have a history of precipitous labour, do consider a home birth or talk to your midwife. It’s got nothing to do with the tea though 🥲
