Painful swollen fat cells all over the body?

Hey guys,

So after I had my baby 16 months ago by emergency c section (May 2022) I had this weird lump on my left thigh which they initially thought was a lipoma then turned out to be something they couldn't define but "most likely" an injury to the fat cells below my skin when I had an ultrasound scan. I was supposed to have a follow up scan 2 months later but they didn't book it and I'm still waiting for it.

Over time, that lump got smaller but the surrounding areas were still sore and lumpy to the touch...as the months have progressed I've now got this lumpy sore bruised feeling almost all over my body (upper and lower legs and upper arms).

From my research it could be lipedema which affects about 11% of women and can occur with hormonal changes such as pregnancy. It makes sense that it might be this but I'm not sure.

I went to my doctor's about this a few months ago when it was just my legs and the GP just told me it's due to hormonal changes and will go away over time....but now it seems to have progressed even more. She didn't mention lipedema. I'm just wondering what else it could be?

It's very painful even when I'm not touching it, when I'm just sitting or walking. When I've had physiotherapy, osteopathy and massage therapy it's very painful whenever the therapist touches those areas.

I'm not overweight...in fact I've lost so much weight since having my son. I'm about 4kg (8.8lbs) lighter than I was before pregnancy.

My upper body does look a bit more slimmer compared to my lower half but I wouldn't consider my hips and thighs to be abnormally large which seems to be the criteria for lipedema. I'm just confused about what this could be.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm going to book another appointment with my GP but I'm not hopeful that they will really investigate it.

Thanks in advance!

I had a c-section 8 months ago and I have these little soft lumps all over my abdomen! I’ve been told it’s no doubt just fatty tissue as I’ve been stretched so much ! Going to keep an eye on them and I’ll return to the dr if it doesn’t go away xx

hi I'm.sorry you're dealing with this. My lumps have progressed even more now (got them on abdomen as well).and from doing a lot of research and something a Dr who scanned me a second time said (he mentioned this casually) I've come to the conclusion that it's most likely Dercums Disease. It's more common in women over 30 which I am. I'm in a support group for it on FB and although the disease is rare everyone in the group experiences the same exact symptoms as me..I'm waiting for a biopsy and then hopefully will get a referral to a dermatologist who can officially diagnose me. I hope what you have is not what I have xx

How many of you had your c sections rescheduled?

So I'm choosing to have a c section this time around because I had an emergency c section after being induced last time. That was less than 2 years ago so I don't think it's a good idea to try again. I'm really nervous it's gonna be rescheduled bcs I have my sister taking time off work to help me out with the baby in the hospital since my husband will have to go home to be with our toddler at night. Also my husband starts his leave on that day so I don't want him to lose any more days. So I'm just wondering how common this is. I'm in the US in NJ

Unwell after sweep

I’ve had a sweep earlier today, lost the mucus plug about a couple hours later. Got period type cramping immediately, I hadn’t even left the midwife appointment yet. I have contractions and permanent back cramping, alongside waves of nausea - which is a combination I’m struggling with as I feel quite unwell. Nowhere near labour, as I’ve had 6 contractions in the span of 3 hours or so. A midwife told me sweeps cause really bad cramping, so I assumed it was normal. But just want to check if there’s anybody out there in a similar boat? Should I be calling the hospital to check if it’s all normal?

39 Week Induction Being Pushed On

Went to my 36 week appointment today and my OB was pushing for a 39 week induction.

I want a natural spontaneous labor but my OB kept pushing for the induction even if I’m low risk and healthy. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Has your life become a living nightmare since becoming a mom?

Sometimes I become conscious of the fact that I just have to wake up tomorrow morning and do this all over again. Every day. And then I wanna bash my head into a brick wall
