I have just tried 3 times to put my very sleepy baby down into the cot for a day time nap and every time she wakes!! And isn't even drowsy in the cot she's wide awake so can't settle her in there. At night she is put down no problem but in the day will only ever contact nap. Any tips please I'd be so grateful!

I don’t 😂

I don’t 😂 she sleeps on me or in her pram bassinet during the day, I tried the cot so many times but just ended in tears (for both of us lol) so I’m now picking my battles!

I have him fall asleep on me first then transfer him x
@Aimee it's so frustrating isn't it! I enjoy the contact naps but also just want to start getting her used to napping off of me in the day but nothing seems to work! Then I feel like I get judgement from people like my MIL who doesn't understand why she only sleeps on me jn the day!!

Oh I know I love her sleeping on me and cuddling in but I also can’t help but think of all the things I could be doing whilst she sleeps like me having a nap! Shouldn’t complain though as I know it’s not forever and I will miss these when she doesn’t want to nap on me anymore. Ignore you MIL every baby is different and you know your baby best so if they will only nap on you then you don’t need to explain yourself to her or anyone else!
@Aimee yeah I'm exactly the same and keep thinking I will miss it when she's older! Yeah you're so right x

I wear my daughter in a baby wrap or carrier during the day and she naps in there easily. All the benefits of contact napping but I also have the freedom to get things done! It’s great.

I rock him until he’s pretty much asleep and then gently put him down. Sometimes he needs picking up and rocking again sometimes I can just put his dummy in until he’s chilled and sometimes it takes so much rocking and so long

My little boy does his afternoon nap in the cot, but it took weeks of trying it everyday. At the beginning sometimes he would just do part of the nap and we'd finish as a contact nap. I just kept trying everyday. He now usually does 1.5-2.5 hrs in the cot during the day

I read to start with the first nap of the day and once that’s established work up from there. The first nap is supposedly the easiest because there is still sleep pressure remaining from overnight. It worked for my little girl and she will now nap in her cot without problem though they are generally only 30-40 minutes long!

I’m going to start trying for naps from tomorrow onwards, I think I’ll just start with maybe his first morning nap and then do the rest as usual xx
