Induction date is quickly approaching and I'm feeling increasingly nervous, especially after reading so many negative Induction experiences. Does anyone have any experiences of induction at Bolton Hospital that they can share with me? Please me honest, I want to be prepared!

I had an induction at Bolton 10 weeks ago. It wasn’t successful for unfortunately and ended up in c section but that was nothing to do with the hospital,y body just wasn’t ready to labour. However what I will say is that when I went all of the wards were completely back logged and it meant a that those that were in for induction could have been waiting up to a week to go to the labour ward to get their waters broken. Obviously if you’re induced and go into labour then that won’t happen but if you need your waters broken be prepared you might be there for a while. Take head phones, a pillow, anything that will make you comfy and if you do have to stay an extended time, and you want to, ask if you can go home for night leave. That’s what I did and was the only way i got some sleep ahead of the birth. Good luck, I hope it all runs smoothly xxx

Hiya, I was induced 3 weeks ago at Bolton! I was planned for induction on the Tuesday but my waters went on the Monday evening, they asked me to come in so they could confirm they had gone & when on monitoring the babies heart rate was sky high so I was admitted over night & told induction would begin from 9am depending how many others were in.. about 11 ish they came to examine me before inserting the gel but I was 2cm so they said I wouldn’t need the gel & would be taken down to delivery when a bed became available. Around 3 ish I was taken to delivery (not having active contractions at this time, just the occasional tightening), I was put on the hormone drip at 5:30pm & by 7:30pm had the strongest urge to push, baby was born at 8:06pm & I had an episiotomy to help with baby coming out/prevent tearing. Overall the induction by drip was intense but it was over with very quick, I know not everyone’s goes like that but I was back up on the ward by 11 ish after skin to skin & a shower x

Good luck, would defo recommend taking your own pillow, headphones, lip balm and lots of drinks if you plan to use gas and air and anything else that makes you more comfortable. I also had a birthing comb which kept me distracted through the contractions x
