Protein powder & pregnancy

Hi guys, just wondering what peoples thoughts are on protein powder/shakes during pregnancy. I’m a total gym girl and a vegetarian, so I’ve been consuming protein powders for a few years now. I think with being vegetarian it helps me massively with getting protein in. I never substitute a meal for a protein shake. I eat food as normal and have 1-2 protein shakes a day along side that. Google results around safety can vary but most say it’s safe, just wondering if any mamas or mamas to be have any experience with this or advice.

Hi Amy, I’m similar to you that I’ve always had protein powder daily and not substituted it for food - generally adding it to smoothies or Greek yoghurt at breakfast. Done it through this whole pregnancy (8 months now) as I’ve been gyming the whole time! From what I’ve looked up it doesn’t do any harm.

I still have protein powder but it’s a pretty clean one, opt for one with the minimal amount of ingredients if you can

That’s great to hear! Thanks girls 😊

Anything without vitamin E should be good .

I used protein power throughout my pregnancy without any issues. One of the pts at the gym I go too is a pre/post natal coach and I got some advice from her, who said it was fine

I used it throughout my pregnancy and all was well ☺️☺️

I used protein powered with both pregnancies (16 month old and 5 week old) used ones with minimal additives with both and was fine!x

I used protein powders too throughout my pregnancy and my son is so strong… I genuinely believe it’s a little down to drinking them when I made him😂😂😂❤️ xxx
