PAPP-A test

Hi all, my PAPP-A test has come back positive. I am now being monitored for the rest of the pregnancy. I’m 14 week and now on medication. Has anyone else been dealing with this? I’m so scared from it all but would be nice to understand more with other people who have gone through/going through it❤️

I have low PAPP-A but not been advised to take any medication but will have regular scans when I get to 28 weeks to keep and eye on babies growth.

Seems to be quite a common thing from what I can see on here and lots of people being told to take aspirin x

I had a call at 15 weeks to say the same. I was told I’d get a letter from my doctor shortly who may or may not advise me to take aspirin but I’m almost 18 weeks and still no letter.
All I know is from 28 weeks I’ll be having a scan every 4 weeks, or every 2 weeks if baby is not growing as expected and induced at 36 weeks if too small. I’ve been told by my midwife majority of people have normal size healthy babies though! Xx

What do you mean positive? Everyone has papp a ?

Hey! I have low Papp-A too! I’ve been advised to take baby aspirin from 16-36 weeks and they’ll decide on 20 week scan if I need extra growth scans!

Thankyou everyone. I have to take aspirin asap I’m 14 week and went to collect today, just thought I’d see what everyone else knew as my midwife told me very little xx

I’m currently experiencing this too & have been prescribed aspirin! Me & my first born were both healthy through her pregnancy so this has come as a bit of a shock! I’m currently 16+5 & heard his/hers heartbeat Tuesday so that was defo much needed reassurance as I miscarried at the end of March! X

Hey Hun! I got my letter saying I’ve got low PAPP-A after my bloods at my 12 week scan. I have to take 75mg of aspirin everyday and will be monitored. I also have 3 extra scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks to check babies growth. I went for a private scan at 15 weeks to reassure myself and everything was perfect. Baby was measuring just as they should be so I would try not to worry ❤️

We’re you prescribed aspirin through your doctor or the hospital? Xx

@Amy it doesn't need to be prescribed, you just buy it for a couple of quid. It costs quite a bit for the NHS on prescription. It's just 150mg (my dose) average asprin I took mine from 12 weeks x

I was prescribed it through the hospital chick, 150mg from 14 week to be taken every night Xx

I’ve been given 150mg each night so far to take. I’ve got a weekly scan from 24 week as of what I know at the minute. I have a private scan for my gender in 2 weeks so I’m hoping that will put me at ease. I hate googling stuff but I just feel sometimes midwife’s explain in medical terms and it’s too much to take in and understand as a none medical professional. I’m glad you’re baby is measuring well. I wish you a Healthy pregnancy ❤️

I misscarried last July which is why my mind went to an instant panick. Also got aspirin to take. I’m so glad others are on the same page to talk about it all as I was worried with only being 5% of pregnancy’s to have it, that really panicked me and no one I knew had it before. I wish you a healthy pregnancy ❤️Xx

to know your dose and for it to be recorded properly you must not just go and buy it over the counter. My midwife and doctor both said that I must only use this through prescription as the dose can change and they need to keep a track of it in their system even with what it costs the NHS there is a reason it’s prescribed and to be recorded. X

yes you can. I had a letter from fetal medicine and was stated to buy 150mg. It absolutely doesn't need to be prescribed x
